Movie Review: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Breaking Dawn Part 2
Director: Bill Condon
Screenplay: Melissa Rosenberg
Novel: Stephenie Meyer
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner (Full cast & crew HERE)

MOVIE DESCRIPTION:
After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi.

MY REVIEW:
EEEEEEEEKKKKK.*takes a deep breath* Wheeew. Okay. Where to start... okay. So... I dread lines. I dislike them with a passion. >.< So usually when I want to see a movie the night it comes out, I'll go to the 1 AM showing, because everyone wants to cram themselves into the midnight premiers... and I'm having none of that nonsense xD Anywho, I ended up going later that day around 7:40 PM and holy mother of fecking shit. There were LINES. FEEEECKING LINES! For every single frkn' showing. *sighs heavily*

Yes, I was all WHYYYYYY!!! I thought to my self for  a second... I should just wait for it to come out on DVD... then it hit me... fuck that! I waited long enough xD

Okay, okay. On with my review. Let me just say that I am glaaaad there were Twihards all up in my movie theater. I usually could do without all the yelling and ruining of a movie, but this was an exception.

The Acting: Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan)... I'm gonna have to say she improved. I really think she's come a ways since Twilight. There was NO heavy breathing AT ALL. I wanted to stand up in the theater and applaud her. No awkward silences and touching of the hair that she does in EVERY single movie she's in. So, kudos to her. Though, I'm thinking the Director was all "Aye yo bitch, none of that heavy breathing shit all up in my movie." Thank you Bill Condon. haha. >.< As for Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen). ehh. Nothing special. As far as I'm concerned, he's a decent actor. Did I like him as Edward? Meehh. I'll live. I was really excited that the other Cullens' had more lines.. seriously! Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) had more lines than the last 4 movies COMBINED! That's some major improvements.

Actors: I was more or less excited about seeing all the new vampires. I think they chose really, really well when it came to that.

Can I fangirl a moment over Rami Malek (Benjamin - Egyptian Coven) Wheeew. but he is sooooo darned kaaaaa-ute! I thought he was pure awesomeness. ^_^

Billy Burke (Charlie Swan) Ahhh. This man. He barely has any scenes but when he does, he just steals the whole show. -- Mackenzie Foy (Renesmee) is sooo danged cute. I wasn't feeling all the computer generated images of Renesmee as she aged, but aside from that it was okay. -- Micheal Sheen (Aro - Volturi) is a pure genius. This man... So danged believable. Just... GO WATCH IT NOW! -- Dakota Fanning (Jane - Volturi) Welcome back giiiirl. This girl can act. Seriously. Again. Just GO WATCH THE MOVIE. lol. I really don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'm just keep telling you what to do xD -- All the other characters were great and really tied the movie together nicely :)

The Movie: Was puuuure awesomeness. Like I mentioned earlier, I was glad that my theater was full of Twihards. There was a lot of laughing and screaming involved. Hell, when the credits rolled, the girls were screaming at all the male actors' names and all the guys were hollerin' for all the female actresses' names. Breaking Dawn Part 2 definitely takes all of the cake when it comes to all the Twilight movies. A round of applause for Bill Condon and the rest of the cast & crew that made this movie amazing and wrapped up the entire saga nicely :)

The Twisted Ending:  Oh. My. Gosh. OHMYGOSH! Go watch the movie. NOW. That's pretty much all I can say on the ending. It's definitely a twist. I don't want to say too much as to give anything away... >.< But... this was my reaction...

No. Words.
------
Buuuut. Bella does sparkle...
Welcome to the sparkly kingdom of fairy dust biiiatch

QUESTION (Might be a spoiler so I highlighted it for all you folks that don't like spoilers... roll mouse over to highlight area to see spoiler)

So, in BD pt. 1 Alice can't see Bella's future or the baby right? Same as with Jacob. But, at the end of BD pt. 2, she sees Renesmee's & Jacob's future? That was the only flaw I found. Unless I'm losing it here >.<  What do y'all think?

ARC Review: Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Ahh. Yes, I know this review is eeeextra late. I read this a while back (few months ago) and it's just been siting in my review pile and I've finally gotten around to reviewing it.

*Received Through NetGalley*
Beautiful Disaster
Amazon | GoodReads | B&N
Author: Jamie McGuire
Publisher: Atria Books
Release Date: August 14, 2012
Genre: YA, Contemporary Romance, 432 pages
ISBN-10: 1476712042
ISBN-13: 978-1476712048

SUMMARY:
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

MY REVIEW:
Lawd. Have. Mercy! Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox needs to be real! Maybe I can scout my campus for him ;) Underground fighting rings here I come! lol. Abby Abernathy is trying to change her life, and moves away to attend Eastern University to get away from her past. But does she get away from her past life? Nope. Not a chance. Abby Abernathy runs into Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox and goes from being his "friend" to his "everything" in not time flat. Okay, exaggeration there. It's obvious how much they both want each other. As much as I'd love to believe it, you just CAN'T be JUST FRIENDS with a guy. It's... impossible!

Abby is hiding a secret, Travis has a problem. Mix those two deliciously gossip worthy things together and you get one fabulously delivered Beautiful Disaster. Abby, Abby, Abby... Lawd does this girl have ISSUES! Daddy issues at that. That's all bad. I really loved this book. The relationship between Abby and Travis is beyond crazy. This is one dysfunctional relationship that seems to need AND rely on problems to survive. If it's not one thing, it's another. Travis ain't no walk in the park either, mind you. Travis is a fighter, he's got mommy issues. Perfect match, eh? He's the "tough" guy, the "don't-fuck-with-him-or-his-woman" kinda guy or you get the living shit beat out of you.

Aside from their crazy relationship, I really liked these two. I feel that, yeah they were cray cray, but they totally fit together. All you girls, don't sit there and be all "Ana, WTF is you talking about?" you know dang well what I'm talking about. You've been in a relationship of some sort, where you Just. Cant. Let. Go. You keep going back for more. Reading Beautiful Disasters the song that's playing in my head (aside from the rowdy crowd noises during a cage fight. raaah, raaah) is Auburns "Perfect Two" It's one lovely dovey song. And that's how I see Abby and Travis. *shrugs* Maybe if someone made a rock version of the song, then... yeah... I also liked the other characters, Abby's best friend America and her boyfriend (Travis' cousin Shep), as well as Travis' dad and brothers. I think all characters were well developed and they were all believable. Makes me want to go out and pinpoint all the Travis's and Abby's in my life. lol.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. It's very borderline NOT YA. Definitely for a mature audience. If you love yourself a contemporary romance with bruised hearts that need major fixing then this book is definitely for you.

    Author: April Grey
Publisher: Eternal Press (November 7, 2011)
Genre: Dark, Fantasy, Paranormal, 236 pages
    ISBN-10: 1615725334
    ISBN-13: 978-1615725335

    SUMMARY:
One Man, Two Women, Two Gods...who will survive the Trickster's snare?

Ghostly images materialize in Nina Weaver's photos. Goons try to kidnap her. When her photographs are stolen and her best friend is shot, she realizes that she has no one to turn to but her ex-lover, Pascal ""Goofy"" Guzman. Together they go on a desperate road trip in search of answers. The truth is darker and more terrifying than Nina could ever have imagined. After their love re-ignites, they fall into the Trickster God's trap.

    EXCERPT:
She stared at the photo on the gallery wall and silently swore. All semester ghostly images had marred her work. And now not only a strange inclusion ruined her photo, but the pin light needed to be repositioned as well. She found a ladder in the hallway supply closet. Balancing precariously on the top step, she noticed that the imperfection had changed into the image of a vehicle, and it was on fire. She could see the superheated air wavering up off of the flames. The crackling and sudden heat of a blaze forced her to lift a hand to guard her face. It was going to explode. She was quite sure of it. And then she was falling backwards, falling down…

Ana: Welcome to Beach Bum Reads! I am super excited that you could join me today!

April Grey: I'm delighted to be here!

Ana: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
April Grey: I'm the author of Chasing the Trickster, published by Eternal Press. Also, my short stories appear in numerous e-zines, along with e- published and print anthologies. I live in NYC with my hubby and teen son. My life prior to marriage was involved in working in the theatre and in law firms (gotta pay the rent). After marriage and motherhood I've spent my time writing as well as teaching  art and ESL.

Ana: What was the first book that got you into reading?
April Grey: The Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe. It was read to us in first grade and I was hooked.

Ana: What/who inspired you to become a writer?
April Grey: I think it was primarily the work of Charles DeLint that made me want to write, but there's a whole stable of favorite authors before and after him that gave inspiration.

Ana: Is there anything you want to say to inspiring writers? (to inspire writers or to aspiring writers?)
April Grey: Keep honing your skills and keep reading. Observe what your favorite writers do that brings you pleasure.  Find what appeals to you as a reader. Don't try to copy, but learn what works for you.

Ana: Can you tell us a little bit about Chasing the Trickster?
April Grey: It's a crazy road trip to self discovery for Nina Weaver, our main character. Uncanny things have been happening to her such as mysterious images and messages showing up in her artwork.  But when she barely escapes being kidnapped and her best friend is shot, she decides to get to the bottom of the mess her life has become. She winds up accepting help from her ex-lover and on their trip they fall back in love. Eventually they discover that they are pawns in a rivalry between two pagan gods, Cernunnos and the Trickster God of the American Southwest.

Ana: Who was the hardest character for you to write?
April Grey: Linda, because she is a tragic figure. There were times that I cried as I wrote her story.

Ana: Where did you come up with the idea for Chasing the Trickster?
April Grey: I've long been a fan of the work of Carl Jung. In particular, I was intrigued by his writing on the Trickster Archetype. The Trickster comes and shakes us up whenever we get big headed and think we know everything there is to know.

Ana: All book descriptions set aside, they say a picture is a worth a thousand words. What do you think the cover for Chasing the Trickster says?
April Grey: The cover depicts the Celtic god, Cernunnos. Even though the title of the book is Chasing the Trickster, it is the first book in the Cernunnos series. A pagan fertility god, Cernunnos gets mixed up in people's problems as he goes on his own journey of self-discovery.

Ana: Are you currently working on anything? Care to dish?
April Grey: The sequel to Chasing the Trickster, St. Nick's Favor will hopefully be released this holiday season. We are working on the cover right now. Also, I'll be teaching a course at Savvy Authors early next year on Getting Published in E-zines. I have just published "Troll Bridge: Three Unlikely Stories" for Halloween.

Ana: Okay, last question… and I’ve gotta ask… are you a beach bum?

April Grey: Yes, I am. Or I would be if my husband wasn't deathly allergic to beach grasses. I'm hoping to head to Nantucket next year for our 20th anniversary, but he'll need to bring an Epi pen.

Ana: Thanks for stopping by! It was a pleasure having you here today :)
April Grey: Thanks! It was a pleasure.
    Think Fast:

    Ana: Water or Soda?

    April Grey:  Water

    Ana: Coffee or Tea?
    April Grey: Coffee

    Ana: Zombies or Vampires?
    April Grey: Zombies

    Ana: Rap or Rock?

    April Grey: Rock

    Ana: Day or Night?
    April Grey: Day

    Ana: Salad or Burger?
April Grey: Salad (I switch off between Vegan and Lacto-Ovo-Pesco Vegetarian). I'm also gluten free.

April Grey's urban fantasy novel, Chasing The Trickster, is published by Eternal Press. Her short stories have been published in such print anthologies as Demonmind's Halloween 2010, The Best of Everyday Fiction 2, Northern Haunts, Ephemera and Terrible Beauty, Fearful Symmetry. Many of these stories can be found in her collection, The Fairy Cake Bake Shoppe available through Amazon and Smashwords.

She and her family live in Hell's Kitchen, NYC in a building next to a bedeviled garden. Gremlins, sprites or pixies, something mischievous, lurks therein. Someday she'll find out.

    Talking Zombies #4

Welcome back to another week of Talking Zombies with Sharonda & Ana! Last week we dished about S03E05 “Say The Word”  you can find that HERE. This week we are talking about this past Sunday’s episode “Hounded” S03E06.

Ana: Holy. Fucking. Shit. I knew it. I fuuuucking knew it! It was Lori’s ol’ dead ass on the phone xD  Rick lost his mind, but I think he’s back... The ending of Hounded shed a little bit of light on that.

Sharonda: LMAOOO!! thank god for that..I was seriously starting to question him...like Dude..wth is going on with you? But I'm glad he got his good sense back

Ana: Right, when Hershel went to find Rick and picked up the phone, I was all.. oooooh shiiiet. There you go! xD Rick done went bonkers. lol. Ahh what about Andrea and the Governor? OMFG. Ho. WHAT A HO! >.<
Sharonda: Yep...I like how Hershel was like..oh..Ok. It was funny as hell.  I told you those two were going to do the Nasty..lols! Ugh but they worked my nerves..I can't stand either of them..once they are killed off, I'll be totally happy.

Ana: What did you think when that girl who was with Andrea on the wall said “This is not a game”? after Andrea leapt over the wall and killed that walker? Because, personally, I think that totally contradicted everything that has happened to far since being introduced to the Governor and Woodbury. If it isn’t a game, then why chain walkers and brawl in the middle of them? >.<

Sharonda: ikr..on one hand..I'm glad somebody finally told her ass that becoz she’s still with that I have something to prove crap. And on the other hand, it makes you wonder if everyone is "all in" with what's going on in Woodbury..plus that kid was a bad shot. OMG, she missed that zombie like how many times...smh. Are you not happy that Darryl found Carol?!! I was so excited for him ;) I totally did the snoopy dance in my living room ^_^

Ana: Right. Andrea needs to be put in her place. And I was like.. holy fucking hell, she can’t shoot worth a damn! And she said she was good >.< That’s all bad. OMG. When Darryl found Carol I was all “omg yes yes yes yes yeeeees” lol. I knew he liked her! lol. He was so torn up about it.
Sharonda: I think that Andrea is totally living in a fantasy world too. I don't think she wants to face reality and realize that the world is not what it once was..if the ppl in Woodbury are in denial, this chick has on big ass blinds for sure.

Ana: You’re right. I mean, yeah it’s cool and all she wants to find a safe place to reside and where she doesn’t have to worry 24/7 but come on. These people don’t even know what it’s like to live out there. And she LIKES the fights? WTF. That bitch cray.

Sharonda: lol @ that bitch cray..yes..yes she is. I know she better wake the hell up. Its sad to see these ppl walking around everyday like it ain't no fucking Zombies right outside their damn door. That whole damn town is cray cray I tell you.

Ana: What did you think when Merel took Glenn and Maggie? Gosh.. no no no no no NOOOOOOOO.

Sharonda: OMG.I seriously fell on the floor screaming nooooo..my lil one was like ma you are so dramatic over this show. LMBO. But damn, I hope they survive until Rick's group is able to save them and I pray like hell they don't tell where the group is..but I seriously want Merle’s ass to die. I love Michonne, but I wished she would have helped Maggie & Glenn..

Ana: Lol @ your youngest xD  I wanted Michonne to do something too, but she was hurt, so you had to think of that, you know? Maybe she could have done something, maybe not. But I did like how she showed up at the prison though and Rick had that WTF look on his face xD

Sharonda: LOL! That shit was funny..he seriously did have that look on his face...shoot even I was looking at her in awe :)

Ana: I just can’t get over Daryl and Carol. Ahhh. *sobs* I thought he was for sure gonna lose it when he found Carol’s knife. I kinda figured she was growing on him last season ever since Sophia’s disappearance.

Sharonda: True...I felt so bad for him when he was stabbing that damn wall..but I’m happy she’s alive. I think they will make a cute lil couple.

Ana: Okay, so is it just me or was Axel missing in this episode? I saw Oscar, but Axel was MIA.  >.<

Sharonda: Damn...you’re right...what happened to that dude?...hmmm, I may win the bet after all *evil laugh*.

Ana: Haha … pshh win my ass! xD I’m still in! His death has not been confirmed lol...Back to Maggie and Glenn, in the preview for next week’s episode, it shows Michonne telling Rick and his group about the Governor and his fucked up little community and Rick and a few others going to find Woodbury. I don’t think Glenn or Maggie will give up the location, but do you think one or both of them will die before Rick and the others find them? I hope not, but you never know, right?

Sharonda: I don’t think they’ll tell where the group is either. Man, I hope neither one of them dies...I would feel so bad & I’m really starting to like Maggie....Glenn too. *sigh*..yup, you never know with the show and it’s kills me every time it goes off because you just know something bad is going to happen when it comes back on

Ana: What about Andrea? Do you think she’ll put a stop to their little interrogation or do you think she’s completely gone coo coo for cocoa puffs? *shrugs* Part of me thinks she’s taken a drink of water from the Governors little zombie head collection and gone totally wack job.

Sharonda: Nah...that skank is in lala land and she’s definitely drinking whatever the Governor is selling. Watch the stupid butt look all crazy when she DOES find out that Maggie & Glenn are being interrogated. It just boggles the mind that she’s that dense as what is going on, I truly don’t get her character at all.

Ana: I don’t either. Maybe she’s just there to make things more interesting. She’s unstable. First she tries to kill herself after she loses her sister. Then she wants to become a badass and follows Shane around and ends up liking him some, but laaawd already knows that Shane has a thing for Lori but will fuck anything to get his frustrations out (lol >.<) and then he dies. Then she gets lost and finds Michonne and ends up in Woodbury where she just drops Michonne like she didn’t just save her ass the past six months while she was a sick little shit and now is sleeping with the Governor. Yeah... she’s unstable and is in dire need of a zombie bite so we can finally be rid of her.

Sharonda: You are soooo right...OMG! it’s like she doesn't appreciate all the shit that people are doing for her...remember how she was with Dale??
Ana: OMG yeah. I loved Dale. He was always there for her and tried to help her cope with all her bullshit and she treated him like shit and when he died she wanted to feel all bad.. >.< She gotta go. and STAT!

Sharonda: Exactly...the bitch is nuts,I don’t like her & as soon as she dead, I’m happy because she really is a waste of space. Hell, I think her sister was better off alive then she is..okay...I can’t talk about her anymore...gah! I hate her friggin guts...lol!

Ana: lol. Yeah, I agree with you. Enough of Andrea’s ass. When Rick finally got his shit together and went to hold the baby, I really thought he was gonna like lose his shit again and kill the baby :\  That would have been really, really bad for the show... but... Lol. I couldn’t help but think that >.<

Sharonda: I feel the same way...I thought he wasn’t going to touch lil kick ass. But I’m happy he finally came around. & I’m soo happy they didn’t drag it out on the show, that would have worked my nerves to no end.

Ana: Oh, I’m glad too. We need the old Rick back. The one who is take charge and really cares about the well being of his group. Not this new wacko Rick. >.< … So now that Michonne has found Rick’s group, do you think more people will die once she tells them about the Governor and Woodbury? Will we lose some of the group? Or will it just be a confrontation and no bloodshed?

Sharonda: oh for sure more people are going to die...who, idk. I also think there will be a big confrontation. I think it’s going to happen at Woodbury. I believe those people need a serious wake up call & I think those Zombies they are holding hostage for sport will come back to bite them in the ass...neck...face..just all over the damn place.

Ana: Oh I agree, the people of Woodbury definitely need one helluva wake up call. -- I’m really looking forward to the reunion of Daryl and Merel. I want to see if there is going to be beef or one happily ever after with those two. I know Merel loves his brother and I know Daryl does too, but I can’t help but think that Merel is fucked in the head. He’s always been for himself, but when he keeps asking about Daryl, you never know.

Sharonda: I hope Daryl kills Merel & I honestly think he will...He may struggle with it, but once he see what Woodbury has done to Merel...I think he won’t have any choice. Especially after looking at Glenn’s face from the next episode. I believe Daryl know where his loyalties lie..Merle is just all fucked up.

Ana: Lol. I think you might be right, we definitely have a question for this weeks poll. The Dixon Showdown xD Last week we asked y’all who did you think was on the other line of the phone when Rick picked up... Here are the results.
Sharonda: ooo...I like that question :)

Ana: This week’s poll question is...

Sharonda:This week’s question...What will happen with the Dixon Showdown? Who's going to win? Daryl? or Merle? or will it be one happy-go-lucky reunion?

Ana: Thanks so much for joining us again! If you would like to participate in next week’s Talking Zombies, leave a comment below with your email address and we’ll contact you :) Would love to have a guest join us!

Sharonda: Thanks Ana for hanging out with me again...it’s always a pleasure to talk Zombies with you ^_^ and thank you guys for stopping through and joining us as well.

      Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance
      eBook Words: 60,000

      SUMMARY:
On the verge of her twentieth birthday, Vivien’s worries are those of a typical young woman: doing well in college, gaining more independence, and maybe managing to show Brad, her classmate and sometimes jogging partner, that she wouldn’t mind taking their burgeoning relationship to a different level.

Everything changes in the blink of an eye. Vivien stumbles into a knife fight, watches a man die in front of her, and soon listens, stunned, as Brad and his brother Aedan tell her a story of magic, vampires and a murderous ruler intent on killing a princess in hiding – a tale in which she is the princess and heir to a realm she didn’t know existed.

Vivien’s first instinct is to refuse to believe this incredible tale, even if it comes from a man she is attracted to. But when her self-proclaimed bodyguards use magic to take her to a different world, the edges of reality start blurring and Vivien has to figure out who she truly is.

      MY REVIEW:
Ahhh. Let me just start by saying that I do not like Vivien. And with that being said, Bodyguards takes you into the world of fantasy. A world where vampires and hidden princesses whom a king is determined to kill exist. When Viven was young, her Queen mother was murdered and she was sent to Earth, or Otherworld and hidden from a king who is ready to kill her to keep the throne. Bradan and Aedan, twin brothers, are sworn into oath to protect the true heir, Vivien, to the throne. And will die for Vivien if need be.

Bodyguards is the first book in the Quicksilver Codex series, and a really great start to a promising series. Aside from the main character, Vivien, I really like this book and think the series as a whole has the potential to be awesome. Vivien doesn't want to be treated like a child, and doesn't want Aedan or Brad dying for her, but she's continually acting like a child and does the damndest things after Brad and Aedan tell her it isn't safe. Ahhh. I don't know. It might just be me, but how many times did they need to say that they swore an oath to protect her.

Other than Vivien, I really liked the Brad and Aedan. I like the connection they have as brothers and I like that they have a pretty strong bond as brothers. Brad seems to be Vivien's eye candy for the moment (even though the brothers are twins and look exactly alike aside from Brad's tattoo) and I like him as a character, but I'm really loving Aedan. He comes off more as wounded and I like that.

Overall, I really liked this book. I would recommend this book if you're into fantasy/paranormal romance. It was a great start to a series and I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment.

Kallysten’s most exciting accomplishment to date was to cross a few thousand miles and an ocean to pursue (and catch!) the love of her life. She has been writing for fifteen years, and always enjoyed sharing her stories and listening to the readers' reactions. After playing with science fiction, short stories and poetry, she is now trying her hand, heart and words at paranormal romance novels.
