MY REVIEW:
I finally got around to watching The Avengers. Y'all should clap for me. Seriously. Go ahead. I'll wait. lmbo! Let's see. The Avengers says it's an action flick. And an action flick it is! It was kind of slow, and the real action doesn't really start til about 60% into the movie. Though, it does have little ass-kicking scenes before that. It's really a build up. A slow, yet entertaining, build up.

Here's what you've got:
Together these six will become the Avengers, taking on Loki(Tom Hiddleston), Thor's deranged, psycho, not-so-brother and his plan to take over Earth with the help of his big, creepy army of monsters(really, really creepy). But, before these bad ass superheroes can even think of doing that, they have to come together as a team and to do that, they have to let go of their "I-Am-Me-I-Rule-The-World" complex *cough* Iron Man *cough*. The first half of the movie drags, but you do get some high-tech shit thrown your way that keeps the movie somewhat afloat. A few differences and head-butts between the heroes, but that would be expected. Once you're past the halfway mark the movie picks up and gets a lot better.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's been on my "to-watch" list forever and I finally got a chance to do that. Of course, I mostly watched it for Thor's sake *swoon*. The action is there. Robert Downey Jr. brings the comedic relief in this action packed flick, as well as a few other characters. Though, they only have but a line or two that drips with comedy. The acting, IMO, was pretty great, especially with these actors and the screen time that they get. There are a few side stories going on. Hawkeye and Black Widow have their own thing between each other, which flows through the movie and comes full circle in the end, though it's just between those two. The Hulk, well, you don't get to see the hulk for quite a bit (and I mean in his big, green, horrifyingly huge self), but once he's there, he's bad ass. Though I do love Thor, I thought his parts were a bit draggy and not all that entertaining, but it did pick up a time or two. Iron Man, hell. He's Iron Man, he's the shit. And Captain America. Again, a little draggy for me, but still entertaining. I think these six together made one helluva movie and I'm hoping there's a sequel.

Would I recommend this? Heck, yeah! If you love yourself an action filled movie with an egotistical hero (or two) then this one is definitely for you. It is PG-13, so you pre-teens can watch this with you. The Avengers is a great family night movie :)

MOVIE DESCRIPTION:

MY REVIEW:
When Princess Merida's mom pushes her to her limits about her life, Merida takes it upon herself to change this, and BAAAM it's curse central and Merida must find a way to undo this curse before it's too late.

Brave is now one of my favorite Disney movies. I really enjoyed this one. AAAAND OMFG the animation is Ah-maaazing. If I didn't like this movie, I'd tell you to watch it for that alone lol. But, alas, I loved this movie.Princess Merida is one tough cookie, though I wanted to slap her a time or two for being so mean to her mama. BUUUT, I guess it's that age for a young girl coming of age and wanting to be herself and not what her mother wants her to be.

This movie was really enjoyable and I think really teaches a lesson as well. LISTEN TO YA MAMA! lol. But, in all seriousness, I think if I didn't already respect and love my mom, then I would have pulled something out of this movie. The journey that Merida goes on to break this curse is one heck of a journey of blood, swear, and tears...okay, okay, just sweat and tears.

I would most definitely recommend this movie. Round up the kiddos and pop this sucker in the DVD player and hit play. OH don't forget the popcorn and the TISSUES, my mom cried when we watched this movie. But, I don't wanna spoil the movie, so I'll leave it at that.

Movie Review: Battleship

Battleship
Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Adventure

Rated: PG 13
Time: 131min
Release Date: May 18, 2012
Director:
Peter Berg

MOVIE DESCRIPTION:
A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.

MY REVIEW:
Battleship is a very action packed movie. So, it most definitely gets a shiny golden star for being an action flick. The whole sci-fi aspect of this movie was not a lost cause on me either. I felt there really was no lagging in that area and kept the movie moving along and a fairly nice pace. I really enjoy these types of movies, but sometimes the whole action bits and pieces can be a little too much or fall just under my expectations line.

Like the game Battleship? Yeah, they were playing a bit of that in this movie (duh). I was a bit lost on this one (juuuust a teeny bit). As, I super-duper-suck at the game and military vocabulary makes me go deaf. BUT, I did watch this movie with my dad near by and he was in the Army, so I definitely bugged him on all that terminology. Therefore, giving me a good gist of what the actors were talking about. But, of course, you don't need an Army daddy/mommy/brother/sister/alien to tell you all about that, the movie does a pretty good job of keeping you in the loop and keeping you intrigued as well.

The acting was pretty danged good. Rihanna, I applaud you. You were pretty danged fierce, thought your Barbados accent did seep through a time or two. Liam Neeson made a few appearances (to hound the main character about dating his daughter) But, Liam Neeson only needs to appear for a few seconds and his character is sold lol. I really like all the characters in this movie, it was action beginning to ending also throw in a few bantering and you've got yourself a ready-made movie. Oh, don't forget the tissue. Can't have an action/sci-fi movie without deaths! Yes, you read that right. I said DEATHS, it was plural indeed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it to all you folks out there who enjoy a good sci-fi/action film. If you liked the movie Battle: Los Angeles, then I'm sure you'll love this one as well.

MY REVIEW:
WHAT. THE. FUCK. -- Alright, so, a family member came down to visit in November, and her bf  and my lil bro wanted to watch this movie... so, I gave in and was all "Okay!"... NO! No no no no no no no NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Gah. Waste of money!

You've got these amazing actors... I mean, come on. Lucy Liu? That's a badass chick right there. Russell Crowe? He's awesome. As for Batista and RZA...ehh. Horrible acting on their parts. Aside from the actors and the ONE surprising factor that got to me (which I won't spoil for those of you who are going to ignore me and watch this movie anyway) this movie was pretty craptastic. I was bored about 10 minutes into it and wish I would have pulled out my cell to just text my life away, but I was being a good movie goer and kept my phone at bay.

Action? Yeah, there was some action. Different clans going at it and killing each other. Or should I say, one clan in particular just slaughtering everyone else. The fighting bits were pretty cool, I'll admit. I though that was pretty good as far as Ninja-Ass-Whoopin movies go. But, other than that, it was pretty boring. I stopped following the storyline and would only perk up when someone decided it was time to kick ass. The final battle had it's ups and downs. Remember that surprising factor I mentioned earlier? Yepp, it's in this final scene. Pretty awesome, but not awesome enough lol.

Would I recommend this movie? Ahhh.. I dunno. Actually, I think my little bro liked it, so for that alone. If you love the whole fake blood and guts thing with your action flicks, then yeah, watch this movie. Other than that? Nah, don't watch it. I wouldn't recommend it.

MY RATING:
I would have rated this a 1.5 but, alas, I do not give half ratings.
