Blogger Spotlight: Interview with Ning of Darkest Addictions

Welcome back to another super-fantastic night of 12 Nights of Christmas. Neyra and I had the awesome pleasure of interviewing Ning of Reading by Kindle Fire, BUT now Ning is a co-blogger over at Darkest Addictions with Neyra... Bad timing lady! lol kidding ;) you're still awesome ^_^ 

 *Back at BeachBum Addictions HQ*

Neyra: *shutting down laptop & walking towards Ana’s office* You ready Ana, we gotta be at the Harem Lounge in like *looks at watch* 1hr. Ning’ will be there soon. You know she’s on a tight schedule at the moment.

ANA: *looks up at Neyra and finishes up the rest of my paperwork* Yeah, yeah. I'm comin'. *hurries and files papers and looks at watch* oh shit, okay lets go *locks up the office and jumps on my Harley* I'll meet you at the Lounge *fastens helmet on and takes off*

*While waiting for Ning in the Harem Lounge *

*Shade walks into the lounge wearing his paramedic uniform ready for work, coming in to say goodbye... properly!*

Neyra: *watches as Shade begins to walk off to get to UGH. And turns to face Ana* I have a bad feeling about having moved our Harems to the same remote spot Ana. I mean- *notices the mischievous glint in Ana’s eyes & narrows her own* ….it’s not like we haven’t agreed to keep our…. *sentence trails off as Ana begins moving towards Shade… Pulls out Sig Sauer, steps in front of Ana & points it at her* BACK OFF!!!!

ANA: *sees Neyra reach for her sig sauer.... pulls out her glock and points it at Neyra* HOLD UP!! PUT IT DOWN!!!

Neyra: I WILL NOT BACK DOWN, BACK OFF & I'LL BACK OFF >.< *At a standstill w/ Ana in the Harem Lounge*

ANA: *walks around with glock pointed at Neyra* PUT DOWN YOUR GUN! WE CAN DO THIS IN A CIVILIZED MANNER!

Neyra: *growls in frustration* WE'LL GET NO WHERE W/ THIS ANA! WE'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE!! PUT IT DOWN AND ALL WILL BE WELL >.<

ANA: ARE YOU MAD?! I AM NOT PUTTING DOWN MY WEAPON! *backs up to the entrance of the building and presses the call button* CALLING MY REINFORCEMENTS!!

Neyra: *Pulls out cell while eyeing Ana & holding Sig Sauer w/ the other hand* I need you. *puts away the phone & walks backwards towards the floor to ceiling windows* MAD? WHATEVER ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DOLL, I'M PERFECTLY CONTENT. BUT I THOUGHT WE'D ALREADY SETTLED THIS... BUT IT'S OBVIOUS THAT WALKING INTO THE HAREM LOUNGE AND ALL BETS ARE OFF.. NOW CALMLY PUT.DOWN.YOUR.WEAPON. I'LL DO THE SAME, YOU KNOW ME. I'M ALL ABOUT THE COMPROMISE.... YOU KNOW THERE'S NO EASY OPTION HERE, JUST CHOOSE THE FORMER... SAVE US THE TROUBLE...

ANA: *backs away from the building door and moves away* ARE YOU FUC- NO! YOU PUT YOURS DOWN AND MAYBE WE'LL COME TO A SOLUTION. YOU PULLED YOURS FIRST *feels the floors vibrate with heavy footfalls and looks to the left* WE CALL AND THEY COME.. PUT YOUR GUN DOWN!

Neyra: *starts to feel the floor vibrate with more heavy footfalls… turns to the right* I WOULDN’T OF HAD TO IF YOU’D JUST KEPT YOUR DISTANCE!! YOU KNOW DAMN WELL THERE WAS NO NEED FOR APPROACHING HIM ANA!! *feels the floor begin to rumble even more so* SHIT! SHIT, SHIT!! THEY’LL ALWAYS COME WHEN WE CALL… PUT IT DOWN ANA!!

*with a loud bang the Harem Lounge entrance by Ana comes tumbling down… the glass on the opposite side near Neyra scatters with a loud crash*

Neyra: *see the shadow looming by the window before it crashes through* SHIIIIT!!! *jumps out of the way and rolls to the left*

Ana: SHIT! *jumps and rolls to the right* 

*1 hour later* - *Ana & Neyra are sitting on opposite sides nursing wounds*

Ana: *gives Neyra a pointed look* I told you to put your weapon down, you couldn't even do that. I am so not cleaning this up and YOU are so paying for this! 

Neyra: *looks up from neck massage* Are you insane!? I AM NOT CLEANING THIS! You're the one who just had to call reinforcements! Shoulda kept your damn distance, that's what... -- *notices a shadow moving on the left from the corner of her eye and jumps up with gargantua dagger in hand*

Ana: *glaring at Neyra, I notice a shadow moving from the corner and reaches under the cushion and aims Glock at the movement then lowers gun when she notices it's just Ning...fashionably late* 

Neyra: Welcome back Ning! *gets up off couch and heads towards Ning for a hug* I can’t say your harem’s been missing you, cause they’ve been with us but.. we sure did ;)

ANA: Welcome back! *hugs Ning and giggles* oh yeah, they’ve been busy alright ;)

NING: *hugs Neyra and Ana* Group hug!! Yay!! I needed that! It’s good to be back. It’s good that you kept my harem entertained, because left alone, who knows what they’ll get themselves into? But now that I’m back, you will stay away from my harem!! *quickly finds another safe location for her harem*

Neyra: All teasing aside hon, and before we get to the juicy bits, would you tell our readers a little about yourself?

NING: Well, sure. I’m in my early twenties. I moved to the US from China ten years ago. I’ve always loved reading and reading is basically how I learned English. I just graduated from college this past May. Now I have a stable job with a public accounting firm. I don’t have as much time to blog as I did before. I sure miss school!

ANA: *watches Paris pass by and winks before turning back to Ning* So miss thang, when did you start blogging and what did you expect to get out of blogging?

NING: Huh? *too lost in staring and Paris*

ANA: Earth to Ning!

NING: *looks back at Ana* Oh sorry. Anyway, blogging… Well, I tried blogging back in 2010, but didn’t really keep up with it, but last year, after I read the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, I had to share, so I impulsively wrote up a blog post!! Seriously, it’s been a year since Thanksgiving, because I remember finishing basically one book a day during my Thanksgiving Break last year.

I honestly did not know there was such a huge blogging community out here with so many passionate readers. I don’t have anyone to talk books with in real life. I can’t express how happy I was that I decided to start up blogging. Otherwise I have no one to talk books with… and no one to fight for my Harem *glares as Neyra and Ana*

Neyra: Whaaat? If you’d just SHARE your Harem we wouldn’t have to fight, Ning. *shrugs and looks up as Wraith walks into the lounge* Ooh, hey baby! Ladies, I’ll uh... be right back! *winks and takes off with her sexy sex demon-vamp*

Ana: *rolls eyes and sighs heavily* Not again!

*1 hour and 30 minutes later*

Neyra: Ahem, soo where were we? That’s right, blogging! Ning,  a blogger’s life isn’t always as easy peasy as it seems, what has been one of the most challenging things about blogging for you this year?

NING: Just keeping up the pace of it. I never thought it would be so time consuming, and I gave up a lot of other things to read and blog, like playing video games. My PS3 has been sorely neglected. It wasn’t so bad this past year because I had a lot of free time, since I already had a job offer and didn’t have to stress about find a job after graduation, but with my current job, it’ll be extremely difficult to find the time to read and blog.

ANA: There’s a lot of holiday spirit going around, if you could give away one series, what series would it be and why?

NING: The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. It started all this blog craziness, so everyone should definitely read it, if you haven’t already. Actually, that’s a good blogoversary giveaway idea. Thanks Ana for mentioning it!!

Ana: ^_^ no problem :)

Neyra: We here at the Dark Shores Lounge pride ourselves in the HOT-BROODING-ALPHAS we’ve come to obsess over. From the Special Force to the hot sexy shifter heroes that we’d like to go bump in the night with ;) What kind of alpha hero is your fave, and please, tell us, why? ;D

NING: VAMPIRES!! My paranormal romance obsession began with The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon (another must read series for PNR fans)! Then comes the Carpathians, then BDB! It’s something to do with their immortality and strength and out-of-this world appeal!!

ANA: Our hawt hunks don’t mind a little dessert in bed, are you the “lay-it-on-and-lick-it-off” type or “no-mess-here” type?

NING: I’m usually “no-mess-here”, but if it’s Acheron or JZB or anyone in my harem, oh yeah, give me some of that whipped cream!

Neyra: It seemed 2012 was the year every author decided it was time to up their game, and the stories they provided us were epic, obsessive, and at times, heart wrenching. What has been your favorite read this year?

NING: Oh my god, I have to pick? You guys are cruel!! *looks through her Goodreads list* If I just pick from 2012 books, then it’s gotta be Lothaire by Kresley Cole and Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver. I narrowed it down to 2, you guys should be proud of me. 

ANA: Lol. oh yeah, round of applause for Ning! xD

...We’ve got your favorites down, what about least favorites?

NING: I can’t think of anything published in 2012, but the Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. For a book with such an awesome blurb, it didn’t meet any of my expectations. Even the guy wasn’t even that hot.

Neyra: Any books on your ‘MUST-HAVE-RIGHT-NOW-OR-I’LL-DIE list? *looks at Ana & Ning’s worried expressions* Am I the only one with this kind of list? xD

ANA: Wow... uh, yeah you are >.<   

NING: *agrees with Ana* I wouldn’t go that far, but I’ll give you the top 5

Neyra: It’s Christmas, and Hottie Santa is coming to town! His naughty elf has gone amiss, and he wants YOU to take her place. He’s granting one wish, anything you want, but you MUST give him control. Are you willing to submit to his every desire, or deny Hottie Santa his one Christmas wish?

ANA: Hottie Santa huh? move aside, Ning! lmbo

NING: Hey! My interview, me first! Get in line, Ana! Oh yes, Hottie Santa! Who am I to deny this Christmas wish?

Ana: Lmbo!! Not a chance xD

Neyra: It would be a crime to do so, good answer Ning ;) LOL 

ANA: I’m gonna dig a little deep here (and I do hope you don’t mind) *winks* How kinky does it get in your bedroom? Or are you strictly a vanilla ice cream kinda girl with no sprinkles on top?

NING: Of course, I should’ve known this is coming. There’s a little bit of tying down and spanking *blushes* But it’s hard to be kinky when you’re in a long distance relationship *sigh* But both my bf and I are both pretty open to exploring different things. So if you ask me this in maybe 5 years, my answer hopefully will be a lot more colorful.

Neyra: Girrrl, don’t I know it! *Sighs in frustration* I like them kinky too ;) lol

In the spirit of Naughty Christmas, if you could ask Santa for any hawt hunk of burnin’ alpha male love and any sex scene to go with him, what would you pick? ;)

ANA:  Don’t be afraid to lay out your most hunkiest alpha males ;) Neyra & I test dri- I mean, put them through a thorough inspection to make sure he’s every bit as BIG, BAD AND ALPHA for you ;)

NING: Geez, no fair that I get to miss out on all the fun!! Well, Jericho Barrons when he was trying to cure Mac of her “sickness” in the Fever series. Honestly, if I had Barrons all to myself for a few weeks/months serving my every sexual need, I wouldn’t want to be back to normal either.

  Laughing as she watches Ning take off to her Harem, Neyra turns to Ana. “Think she’ll notice the scratches, bites, and, uhm.. love marks on her men, hoochie? After all, they were off limits, but we seem to be immune to those words when it comes to men. I just hope she sees what we were ultimately dy--I mean, trying to accomplish here; to keep her harem from feeling neglected during her two month hiatus.” She winks and takes a sip of her strawberry daiquiri. 

Taking a sip of her drink, Ana turns back to Neyra, “hmm... Oh, she’ll mind, but she can’t complain. We were only, as you put it, keeping them from feeling neglected.” With her drink finished, Ana set her glass back on the table, “Well, Hoochie, it was fun, but... I hear mighty alpha males calling for me.” With a wink and a sway of her hips, Ana makes her way out the door.

Author Spotlight: Interview with Elizabeth Marx

Welcome back! Tonight is night #9 of the 12 Nights of Christmas and Neyra and I are happy to welcome Elizabeth Marx, author of contemporary romance novels, Cutters Vs. Jocks & Binding Arbitration :)

Ana: *singing EXTRA loud* TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME, TAKE ME OUT WITH THE CROWD. BUY ME SOME PEANUTS AND CRACKERJACKS! I DON’T CARE IF I NEVER GET BACK! *nudges Neyra* Think we should take this interview down to the sports pub?

Neyra: *chuckles* I doubt you need to take it to the pub to make it a party. But I’m sure Elizabeth would love to sit and relax, sooo lee’goo!

*20 minutes later* 

Ana: *buys a round of beer for the table* Thanks for joining us today, Elizabeth!

Neyra: We’re so glad you could make it! The holidays are always hectic for all of us, so thank you.

Elizabeth: Thanks so much for inviting me out for a drink, I think I’ll have a Cranberry Sangria, sounds festive right?

Ana: *eyeing Elizabeth’s drink and calls back waitress* uhmm.. yeah, so festive ;) *to the waitress* yeah, let me get one of those *pointing to Elizabeth's drink*

To kick off this interview, why don’t you tell our fellow followers all about yourself :) P.S. Anything goes ;)

Elizabeth: Well I grew up in Chicago,  but I’ve lived in Texas and Florida. I’ve always loved books and world building, so I became a writer. Right now I’m counting down to Christmas and I’m totally obsessed with decorating and wrapping and creating my own winter wonderland. Ana: Let me just say that I absolutely loved Aidan and Libbys’ story! How did you come up with the whole storyline?

Elizabeth: My husband went to IU which is where the story was set and he was a baseball player there. Once I visited there and I ran into a couple by a fountain and they just looked like they came from different worlds. So I decided I wanted to write a story about a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who fell in love for Mr. Perfect.

Neyra: Were they characters based on real people in your life? Or perhaps your own experiences?

Elizabeth: Writers are a composite of all their experiences and characters are a composite of everyone we meet and know. Aidan’s arrogance was based on a professional football player who I don’t care for at all, and then I formed his sweeter, truer self, based on several people. So be careful or you’ll end up a villain in my next novel.

Ana: *Takes a sip of drink* I love that CvsJ & BA are contemp romance novels that have baseball thrown in! I loved reading all the baseball references, are you a baseball junkie or did you do some much needed research? (And by research, I mean stalk and hound hawt baseball players *winks*)

Neyra: *Lifts up glass* I wouldn’t mind stal-- I mean interviewing those hunks myself. I love baseball ;)

Elizabeth: Honestly, I’m not a big sports fan, at all, well except for the hawt baseball players in tight pants, but as I said my husband was a big ten athlete and learning about sports came with the territory. Also one of his friends made it to the majors so I did have an inkling of the behind the scenes of professional baseball. What I didn’t know I researched or my husband helped me out with.

Ana: I couldn’t help but notice that your main character’s name is Elizabeth, did the inspiration for her character stem from you?

Elizabeth: Actually I wanted to name her Libby, I’ve always loved that nickname but I needed a more formal name and it just happened that Libby is short for Elizabeth. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it! Plus, I’m way snarkier than Libby!

Neyra: lol! 

Ana: haha. And Libby is pretty snarky too!

Neyra: I also noticed you have a paranormal urban fantasy book, All’s Fair in Vanity’s War. It’s about a young girl who dies and is reborn on Halloween night to become what is known as a Seer. Where did inspiration for this book come from?

Elizabeth: I wanted to write a paranormal about witches, but I thought it was over done so I went to druids, which led me to Celtic mythology and that led me to Boston where the largest concentration of Irish Americans live and that drew me right back to Salem. I visited two summers ago for research, it’s an awesome place.

Neyra: All’s fair in Vanity’s War takes place in Salem, a city notorious to us all for it’s Witch trials of 1692. How much research went into this book, if any about the trials, the city, the history?

Elizabeth: A lot of research went into All’s Fair, as I said I went to Salem and did the whole tourist thing so I could place my characters in their real environment. I had to research Celtic mythology and Celtic Gods and Goddesses, Celtic prayers and rituals, then I did a lot of research on the druids and then had to tie that all back together with an explanation about the witch trials and how they relate to my story.

Ana: Which was easier for you to write Contemp. Romance or Paranormal?

Elizabeth: Contemporary is the easiest to write for me because the research is minimal and since my series is set in Chicago I am very familiar with the ins and outs of Chi Town. I know the architecture, people, places and way in which people interact intimately.

Neyra: Any books currently in the works?

Elizabeth: I just released two Gothic Paranormal Romances.

• Descent of Blood, When times are darkest, some vampires desire more than blood. (Amazon Link) 
• Ascent of Blood, Sometimes, love is conceived in the mind of a man long before it’s ever realized. (Amazon Link)

Ana: I heard you released these, congrats! I'm definitely intrigued ^_^ *pulls up GR on phone and adds books to TBR Pile* 

Did you have a certain playlist of songs that you listened to while writing CvJ & BA ?  

Elizabeth: I don’t listen to music while I write, it’s too distracting for me but I do have songs that I hear while I’m writing a book and I think, wow that’s really a good song for this or that part of the book. These are some of the songs I like for BA/CVJ Jar of Hearts, At Last by Ella James, Left Hand by Pink, Rolling in the Deep by Adele.


Ana: Oooh. Jar of Hearts is really good. Christina Perri has an amazing voice!

Neyra: If you could live in any of your book worlds, which would it be? :)

Elizabeth: I would have to say BA/CVJ. I love Chicago, it is one of the greatest cities in the world and I've traveled enough to know it’s true. It’s clean, it’s safe, the people are nice and friendly, we have some of the greatest museums and theaters and some of the tallest buildings in the world!

Blogger Spotlight: Interview with Herding Cats & Burning Soup

Welcome back to another night of 12 Nights of Christmas. Tonight, Neyra and I got the chance to interview Anna over at Herding Cats & Burning Soup...And...there was quite a bit of burning going on. 

Ana: *walking towards Anna's house avoiding stepping on the cats* 

Neyra: *sniffs the air around us, and looks quizzically at Ana, then towards the house* ANNA!! OMG, Are you burning soup!?! :o

Ana: *pauses and looks at Neyra* do you think we should call the fire department.? ... tell them there's a fire? 

*They look at each other both coming to a silent agreement, and begin sprinting towards the house*

Neyra: *starts pounding on the door* Anna!! Open up!! Are you okay in there!? Helloooo!!!??? *looks nervously to Ana*

*Ana rapidly pulls out her cellphone and begins dialing 9-1-1*

Operator: 9-1-1 state your emergency.

Ana: We're at the Cade residence there's lots of smoke coming out of the house! I think my friend is stuck inside.

Operator: Miss, calm down. Who's inside? 

Ana: Anna- *holding back hysterics* her name is Anna Cade!

Operator: What's your name, ma'am? 

Ana: Ana

Operator: Okay, Ana stay with me on the line. Dispatch is on their way

Ana: *covers mouth piece & looks at Neyra* they're coming... and I know this might sound shallow but I hope the firefighters are hawt!

Neyra: *looks at Ana incredulously* Ana!! This is sooo not the time!!! *starts pounding on the door again shouting for Anna & mutters* ..I hope they're hawt too.. 

*Anna Cade suddenly appearing out of thin air*

AnnaCade: Sweet Mary, tell me you didn't call the fire department! *whispers to Ana- hun they are DAMN fine* but blast they're SO gonna put me on a list if they get called out here again! 

Ana: *jumps at Anna's sudden appearance* Woah! Where did you come from? What is all that smoke? *gives Anna a pointed glare* were you making dildo cupcakes again? 

Neyra: *shrieks* What the hell Anna!!! Oh, we sooo called the fire department! You're in big trouble missy! *mutters* I better get a damn dildo cupcake for all my worry >.<  

*All three girls hear the siren down the road*

AnnaCade: *shaking my head and laughing* I'm a total organization freak and thought it'd be a great way to keep track of my new years resolutions and reading. Had no idea it'd end up being such a big project. I'm loving it though :)

Neyra: It's definitely fun *licks cupcake some more* but idk about all that organization stuff >.< did you know some of your blogger buddies before starting the blog? 

AnnaCade: Not a one. I'd hardly even visited a blog. I like just jumping into things. Drives the fam crazy! That's kinda how we ended up with the slightly evil turtle. *looking a little embarrassed about THAT one* Aaannyways. I've met some great bloggers now and even run into a few in person. Have yall met Sharon from I Smell Sheep? She's a hoot and ends up at a lot of the local events here which is fun. And of course there's you two ;) *smiles sweetly*

Ana: Nope, I haven't met her, but she can consider herself on my stalk- I mean, "Must-Befriend" list xD  We hear you just got a job at your local bookstore. We are so jealous right now! Congrats! Hows that working out for you?

AnnaCade: *total girly sqee* OMG I'm LOVING working at the used bookstore. Total bookjunkie best job ever. I just finished my second day and I'm wiped out. But I got to spend hours surrounded by thousands of books. Total book bliss.♥   Neyra the evil turtle story is hilarious and involves a bitten penis of the non-cake variety. Roma and Preston are really well known at the vet school. smh.

• North of Need by Laura Kaye (the hero is so damn cute and has a junk food fetish plus he builds his heroine an igloo ♥)
• Lover Awakened by JR Ward (Zsadist will *always* be my favorite PNR hero)
• Lothaire by Kresley Cole (Lothaire made evil really damn sexy) 
• Cross Your Heart by Michele Bardsley (cus I LOVE a dirty talker and Tez made my mouth drop open a couple times. He's GOOD)

Finally! Someone who isnt Greysessed *gags* ..at all! I hated that book with a passion, i ranted a little x] I read bits of it while I was at work, but like you... i actually preferred working over reading for the first time, it made my head hurt. *sobs* 

Ana: OMG! YES, YES & HELL FRKN' YES! I ♥ J.R. Ward and the Brotherhood ♥ Still haven't read the other books you've mentioned but they're def in my TBR pile. 

Neyra: *smirks* smutty book lover? welcome to the club ;)  And I've heard so much awesome from all those books, and I hear Cherise Sinclair is an evil genius w/ her Mountain Masters and Masters of the Shadowlands series! I'm looking forward to digging my heels into those ;) Aahhhhh!!! * pushes chair back * Ana!!! :(   I see Vamp books... get them away... please, get them away!! *sobs hysterically* xD

Everyone I know *loves* those blasted books ::shudder:: Ana that's an excellent call not picking em up :) And yeah Cherise is freaking brilliant! OMG her shifters are to die for. All kinds, bears, wild dogs, wolves, lions (damn those are "good"). She does dragons in another series too. 

Ana: Oh, nice! I love me a great shifter book. So I'm definitely going to have to look up this Shelly Laurenston. Me + dragon shifters = fiiiiire ;) 

Neyra: You are not alone my friend *sniff* :') but yeah, one girl I grew up with read all three books and said they were good, & I'm sitting there like, "-___- you must be new" Smh. Cherise is definitely on my top list though, but *coughs, and points covertly to Ana* ...she took my wallet from me :(  *shudders* ugh, vamps -__- no, not even Zsadist or V... I've only every made TWO exceptions for vamps.. Wraith & Conall from Larissa Ione's Demonica world ^-^ I LOVE THEM! ♥ And oh! girl after my own heart, I love kitty shifters, especially the Panthers ^-^ Mmm. LOL have you read Michelle M. Pillow's Lords of the Var? So good! I don't remember reading any dragon shifter books, oh scratch that, I read Gena Showalter's Heart of the Dragon -__- it was a good read, not hawt hawt, but good :) Still, like Ana, I'll have to check out Shelly Laurenston. ^_^

Since we're all talking about yummy delicious shifters and HOT HOT GentleDoms' ;) Tell us Anna, would you be afraid if said shifters bit, scratched and ravished you? Or if a Dom took you and pulled your hair, and spanked you? We're talking Kinky Fuckery here with any of these Alphas ;)

Neyra: True story. I think ‘newbie’ readers find 50Shades of Grey the most compelling, it’s understandable because they aren’t familiar with other authors and their works. Maybe with some editing and a few revisions of the characters, FSoG could have been a great story, but, as it were... it’s not. 

Ana: Ahh.. Didn’t read 50Shades >.< not really wanting to. anywho lol...

lol yeah, I really do hate that about some of the heroines in books, but I know what you mean, and “oh fuck” at first, then it’s “oh, lets fuck” ;) lmao.
