Manicure Monday #8

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!

SUMMARY:

When Detective Logan Riske goes undercover to find Pepper Yates, a potential link to his best friend's unsolved murder, he vows to gain her cooperation by any means necessary. But the elusive beauty is more suspicious—and in far more danger—than he expected. And the last thing Logan needs is to start caring for her….Pepper has spent years dodging the corrupt club owner who will stop at nothing to keep her silenced. She can trust no one, not even the handsome new "construction worker" who's moved in next door. The heat between them is undeniable. But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires—or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer's crosshairs?

Hello again! It's finally Monday! And you know what that means! MANICURES!! Oh, yeah. This weeks Mani is based off of the book RUN THE RISK by Lori Foster. It is the first book in the Love Undercover series. I am about 30% into it and... well... Let's just say it's a bit draggy for me. It's interesting, I'll give you that, but I don't think I'm a big fan of the heroine right now. She's too flip-floppy for my tastes. But Logan... Oh, Logan. That's my man candy this week. Now! On to the mani!

Simple glitter design

Description: Pretty simple mani this week. Total # of polishes used: 5 -- lol yes, that's a pretty average number for me when it comes to mani's. Not to worry, one is a base coat and one is a top coat.

First I a base coat to all my nails: NYX girls Nail Hardener  Then I painted two coats of Wet & Wilds BLACK CREME. On top of that I added two coats of NYX Girls FAME (Purple glitter polish) and when that dried, I added one coat of NYX Girls FUNKY (light purple glitter polish). And Revlon's Quick Dry Top Coat to seal the deal.

I was originally going to leave it with just the FAME glitter polish, but then it didn't really match the cover. So I added the FUNKY and voila! Insta-better. lol. Again, very simple, but I believe it goes with the cover. :)

Manicure Monday #7

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!

SUMMARY:

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Welcome back lovely people! It's MONDAYYYY!! YES, the only exciting thing about Monday, is that I get to show off my new mani! And we're 4 days closer the weekend hahaha.

Alrighty. So I did my nails on Saturday (big surprise for me too lol)  And then redid my ring fingers on Sunday (because I just bought a polish and wanted to try it out... and well... you know, I let the polish get the best of me).

Mani #1 - Saturday's madness

Mani #2 - Glitterfied Sunday!

Let us all just take a second here to swoon of Travis Maddox ;)

WOOT! Walking Disaster was a really good book. Like... How can it go wrong when you get Travis Maddox delivered to you on a silver platter?

Description: I did an ombre design on all of my fingers except for my ring finger. I used Milani's Dude Blue and Sinful Colors Captivate Me blended in a white polish to lighten the colors up a bit.  (I didn't want the colors too matchy, matchy with the butterfly on the cover, but with the gradient from light blue to purple—I didn't just want to use blue, even if it was in different shades...yes, yes I'm a color whore.)

Two coats of the ombre blue - purple. Added a top coat to protect that design. Then got two glitter polished: NYX Girls Under The Moon (blue) and NYX Girls Fame (purple) and did an ombre with that to layer over our first ombre.  Add your top coat and voila!

Mani #1: For the ring fingers on this one, I just did a white base coat added a top coat to protect that. And then added a gradient butterfly using my stamp tool.

Mani #2: For the ring fingers on this one, I used NYX Girls White as a base and then added 2 - 3 coats of Sinful Colors Frenzy glitter polish (this is that new polish I was tellin' y'all about). As you can see, you can't even see that white base xD I got a little glitter happy ;)

Manicure Monday #6

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!

SUMMARY:
Vegas Knights is the much-anticipated novel-length sequel to Marina’s popular erotic/romantic short story Knight Fall. The books can be read on their own or in sequence.

After a passionate public encounter with a mysterious and very sexy biker, big girl Kelly Saunders finds herself on the ride of her life. Her 'Knight on shining armor' — Rick Knight, heir to a motorcycle legacy — whisks her away from her soul-sucking corporate job to Las Vegas, where she finds the road to love is treacherous.

As urgent business matters demand more and more of Rick’s attention, Kelly is left to wonder about the future of their relationship. A ruthless betrayal throws her life into turmoil, and a devastating discovery threatens to pull them apart. Is their love just so much Vegas glitter or is it strong enough to survive beyond the dazzling lights of Sin City?

Welcome back to another fantastic Monday! I hope y'all had an awesome Easter. I know I did... well, you know, you can never go wrong with food! lmbo! I think I'm gonna need to put in work at the gym this week. *wipes brow*

I thought this was pretty simple. Do one hand at a time folks. You don't want loose glitter to adhere to your wet nail!

Ahh. Vegas Knights. Really good book in my opinion. I finished it in a day...well, really a few hours. So.. I didn't really want to do anything too similar to the cover, and this book is pretty much based in Vegas, so I thought I'd do something with a little bling. And so I give you glitter tips! I just took some gold glitter (because it's pretty much the only loose glitter I have that somewhat goes with the cover. Plus i think it shouts Vegas....right? or am I trippin'?)

Directions:
1.Paint the tip of your nails with your base coat (or any clear coat)
     2. Dip the tip of your nail into glitter
                      OR
Use a brush (make up brush or paint brush) to apply loose glitter (patting it onto nail)
     3. Tap off/remove excess glitter (you can use a q-tip for this)
    4. Add your top coat onto the tip of your nail where your glitter is (Do this so that you seal in that glitter!) and let dry
     5. Apply two top coats!

Nail polish used: NYX girls nail hardener for base & Revlon's Quick Dry Top Coat

Manicure Monday #5

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!

SUMMARY:

Now there are those among me who whisper I am more.
They fear me even as they protect me. And who can blame them?
I’ve awakened the dazzling magic that’s slumbered in them for
thousands of years. But the thing is, I can’t figure out why.

My aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness, is no longer distracted by her usual sadistic hobbies. Her obsession has turned unwaveringly to me. The mission to get me pregnant and beat my cousin Prince Cel to the crown is taking longer than expected. Even though I spend each night with the Queen’s Ravens, my immortal guards, no child has come of our decadent pleasures. But something else is happening. My magic courses through me uncontrollably. And as I lock my half-mortal body with their full-Sidhe blooded ones, the power surges like never before.

It all began with the chalice. I dreamed of it, and it appeared, cool and hard, beside me when I awoke. My guards know the ancient relic well—its disappearance ages ago stripped them of their vital powers. But it is here with us now. My touch resonates with its force, and they’re consumed with it, their Sidhe essences lit up by it. But even as they cherish me for this unexpected gift, there are those who loathe me for it. Me, a mongrel, only half fey and part mortal. The Unseelie court has suffered for so long, and there are some who would not have it weakened further by an impure queen. My enemies grow in number every day. But they do not know what I am capable of. Nor, for that matter, do I. . . .

Alright. I've decided to keep it reaaaal simple this week. Plus, I was super lazy, so simple would have been the only way to go xD
SIMPLE!

Okay, so... I'm still reading Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series. I'm on the third book. I have been juggling this book with another book, but I just couldn't work with the other cover lol. So, alas. it's another Merry Mani! xD

Description: Alright. So the cover of this one is a greenish teal, I don't have a teal polish..or, rather, I do, but it's too glittery. So I stuck with a polish with less glitter so that the base color showed more. After all, Merry is princess of the Unseelie court. Thinking about it now, I should have done a big ol' mess of colors on my nails. Lots of glowing sidhe and powers floating around in this book ;)

Nail polish used: 2 coats of NYX girls Collection Noir for my base and then 2 coats of NYX girls Enchated Forest glitter polish on top with Revlon's Quick Dry Top Coat to top it all off.

See... SIMPLE! lol.

Manicure Monday #4

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!
Welcome back to another week of Manicures! Oh, but I do love doing my nails. I actually just ran out of nail polish remover after I took off last weeks mani, so I told myself I better not mess up. Lmbo. And I didn't ^_^ It got a bit messy too *wipes brow* on to the mani!

SUMMARY:

My name is Meredith Gentry, but of course it's not my real name. I dare not even whisper my true name after dark for fear that one hushed word will travel over the night winds to the soft ear of my aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness. She wants me dead. I don't even know why...

I fled the high court of Faerie three years ago and have been in hiding ever since. As Merry Gentry, I am a private investigator for the Grey Detective Agency: Supernatural Problems, Magical Solutions. My magical skills, scorned at the courts of Faerie, are valued in the human world. Even by human standards, my magic isn't flashy, which is fine by me. Flashy attracts attention and I can't afford that.

Rumour has it that I am dead. Not quite. I am Princess Meredith NicEssus. To speak that name after dark is to call down a knock upon your door from a hand that can kill you with a touch. I have been careful, but not careful enough. The shadows have found me, and they are going to take me back home, one way or another.

So the running is over. But the fighting has just begun...

Rich, sensual, brimming with dangerous magic, A Kiss of Shadows is a dazzling tour-de-force where folklore, fantasy and erotically charged adventure collide.

Alright! Last week I couldn't get myself to pick up a book that needs to be reviewed, so I started rereading the Meredith Gentry novels by Laurell K. Hamilton. *le sigh* Oh, but I do love those books. So, of course, this weeks mani is all about the Unseelie court ;)
A little bit messy *shrugs*

RAWRRR ;)

So, I mentioned the Unseelie court, if you're familiar with the Merry Gentry novels and the world of faerie then you know that the Unseelie Court is the dark court and the Seelie Court is the light court. I absolutely love Merry and all her men *swoon* so I figured I would do a mani that represented the dark throne (and it kinda sorta matched the cover)

Description: I did a 3D look on my nails with a matte finish. The matte black represents the Unseelie court and all its darkness. I wanted a matte black rather then a nice shiny one because the Unseelie sidhe are dark, dark creatures lol. I would have left it at the matte black, but that's just not my style xD So I did a 3D effect to represent the Unseelie sidhe. They aren't perfect, and most of them are the product of mixed blood and being cast away from the Seelie court for not being "perfect".  I didn't add a top coat, as that would have ruined the matte finish.

Nail polish used: NYX Girls: Collection Noir

To create a matte polish: Nail polish of choice, toothpick & corn starch. On a small palette mix your nail polish and a bit of corn starch. The more corn starch you mix in, the more matte the color. Mix until there are no lumps in your polish (it doesn't lump easily, but just break apart the corn starch) Apply quickly, because the polish will set and get tacky and we don't want that!

Manicure Monday #3

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!
Welcome back! Ahh. Alright, so prepare yourselves for a bit of a messy look lol. I kinda went crazy and the cleanup wasn't all that great. But I still love my nails ^_^

This past week/weekend I've been having a bit of reading mix up. I've started 5 books and have not finished one of those 5. But, the book that I did get most of done is Sins & Needles by Karina Halle

SUMMARY:

Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents' latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.

Went a little crazy cleaning up around the middle finger lol. *shrugs*

EEK Messy!

Alrighty! Short click just so you guys can see the colors a bit better.

Description: I did a bit of a messy ombre. First I painted my whole nail with just a black polish. Then for the ombre I used three different colors: Sapphire Blue (top), Dude Blue (middle), Neon Green (bottom) With the black base, it really muted the brightness of all three colors. If used just without the darker base, it would have come out brighter, and I didn't want that.

I did the same thing for my ring finger nails on both hands BUT, I then just added a bit of white (dabbing it on using a paint brush sponge)  just so that when I added the design, it would pop more.

The design on the ring finger nails are just music notes on a music sheet. Again, this is very messy. It was late, I was tired, and I wanted to go to bed lol.

The video capture a bit more of the colors and I gotta say, I'm really liking the outcome. Minus the messiness lol.

Manicure Monday #2

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!
Welcome back to another fabulous Monday. And yes, it's only fabulous because I get to show off my nails. Lol. I didn't have great lighting last night (that's when I did my nails) and again, today, the lighting is still crappy. I should fix the lighting in my room que no? Anywho. Onto the meme!

SUMMARY:
Claire Nixon is a twenty-year-old college dropout with a secret.

To Claire, Adam Parker is just another flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of college, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn’t succeed, she gets to keep her secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.

Claire thinks she has this one in the bag. She’s perfected the art of forgetting her past. But she isn’t prepared for Adam’s relentless pursuit or for him to share his own secrets. And she’s definitely not prepared for her rock star ex, and her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.

New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language, drug use, and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Alright. This was the best I could do with my lighting *le sigh* I did take a little video as well, so hopefully that helps :)

Had to mess with the brightness on computer to get it to look like this lol

Ooops. You can totally see my messy bed xD sowwy.

Alright. Down to description. This past weekends read was an eBook (sorry no eBook shots with my nails) As you can see my nails aren't really the same as the book cover. BUT if you look closely on the cover, you'll see that the cover models' nails are in a shade of pink. Or is that red? *le sigh* I might be going colorblind lol. This book did have some surfing/beach elements in it. And I really didn't want to do a blue/white color scheme on my nails as I did that last week. And I did get a cut on my thumb, so any type of ombre look went out the window. It was hassle (and hurt like a biznatch) when I tried to take off the polish from last week. (I think I teared up a bit lol)

So, instead I did pink and white. (yes, the white is for the cover lol) I added a bit of a gradient silver on the tips of my nails just to give something MORE. As I said earlier, my nails really don't go with the cover, but rather how the book made me feel. I felt really, REALLY girly while I was reading this. Oohing and aahing at all the cute little couple stuff. And holding my breath waiting for him to kiss her! And itching to slap her for being soooo... HER! lol *le sigh* you can probably tell I miss being a couple lol. But, that's my MM this week :)

Manicure Monday #1

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!
Hi guys! I know this is a whole day late, I was just super busy on Monday *le sigh* Anywho... on to the meme!

So, I saw this fantabulous meme while browsing blogs and I just HAD to participate. I LURVE nail polish (anything girly, really) So, I figured I'd challenge myself to give myself mani's to go with the book I'm currently reading. This is a fairly new meme on NLBR, but if you're a tote girly girl like myself, jump right on in and share your awesome mani's :)

This week I'm currently reading two books, but I figured I'd do my nails based on the physical book, rather then an eBook lol. I'm currently reading Three Sisters by Susan Mallery.

SUMMARY:

After Andi Gordon is jilted at the altar, she makes the most impetuous decision of her life – buying one of the famed Three Sisters Queen Anne houses on Blackberry Island. Now the proud-ish owner of the ugly duckling of the trio, she plans to open her own pediatric office on the first floor, just as soon as her hunky contractor completes the work. Andi's new future may be coming together, but the truth is she's just as badly in need of a major renovation as her house.

When Deanna Phillips confronts her husband about a suspected affair, she opens up a Pandora's Box of unhappiness. And he claims that she is the problem. The terrible thing is, he's right. In her quest to be the perfect woman, she's lost herself, and she's in danger of losing her entire family if things don't change.

Next door, artist Boston King thought she and her college sweetheart would be married forever. Their passion for one other has always seemed indestructible. But after tragedy tears them apart, she's not so sure. Now it's time for them to move forward, with or without one another.

Thrown together by fate and geography, and bound by the strongest of friendships, these three women will discover what they're really made of: laughter, tears, love and all.

Alright, as some of you know, I'm not very good with taking pictures of my nails *sigh* It's like...a mission for me to get a dang good picture lol. So, I took a picture and did a lil mini video for y'all to see :)

See? Horrible lighting >.<

(sorry for the music...I was on a country high that night lol)

And here's the video :) Gah. I'm so regretting clipping and filing my nails >.< They feel uber weird. They're usually way longer than this, but ehhh >.< So, on the cover, it's kind of like a sunset kinda thing and the book is set on Blackberry Island, so I figured I'd do a ombre (hence the messiness) background (light blue, white and yellow) and then on my ring fingers I attempted to make little birdies. lol. It's a total fail. I don't have a nail art brush, or a fine paint brush for that matter, so I used a toothpick....and failed. lol. But, it's still cute, que no?
