Tats & Piercings

Day #7: Alright I gotta question for ya. Do you have the same piercings as your blog you? What about tatts?
Today's question came from Anna @ Herding Cats & Burning Soup. Thanks Anna :)

Aaah. This one's pretty simple. No, I don't. No lip ring, no nose ring, no eyebrow piercing either. I wanted to change up my blog "me"  and make her a bit more badass. Did I succeed? I sure hope so. lol. Anywho, I only have ear piercings, I do want more (like how I have on my lil mascot there) What's stopping me? Well. I still live under my parents roof, and I abide by their rules. That means no dying of the hair & no EXTRA piercings. Lol. As for tats, I don't. I have been saving up to get one though. I want quite a few actually. My parents are really lenient. Just need to make "Smart decisions" I know I'm gonna have to live wit my tats forever, so I'm pretty set in what I want. I want my zodiac symbol with a hibiscus wrapped around it. I did some tweaking on Photoshop.. and this is what I want.. BUT, with a lot more detail. and some leaves added.  Also, I want a tribal design. Nothing huge like Dwayne Johnsons, but something on a smaller scale. Where I want to place these tats? Not sure yet lol.

What about you guys? Any tats or piercings? Feel free to leave your answers in the comments below, also, if you want to ask me a question, go ahead and leave that in the comments as well :)

Random Rants #13

Random Rants is a weekly post I am starting that I will post on Sundays. I will be ranting about things I loved or didn't love from the past week...these rants may or may not pertain to books.

Twitter Madness

So, I won Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec from Cimmaron @ Talk Supe. If you were on Twitter early (well, early for me... 9am really) on Oct. 4th then you would have seen Cimmaron's tweet and could have had a chance to win an eBook copy of Seduction and Snacks...

Makeup Whore

Aside from being a book junkie, I am a makeup whore! lol. I don't wear makeup every single day, but that doesn't men I don't love it!! I've never worn foundation or concealer in my life (until a few days ago) I wanted to try it and see if I liked it. So, with Neyra @ Darkest Addictions help. I got Mabelline's Fit Me Concealer/Foundation (liquid & powder). I also bought lashes from my fave 98 cent store & adheasive for them. And I also got Mabelline's Colossal Volume Express mascara. CVS was having a sale for Mabelline products, so I had to lol. Buy one, get one half off. Pretty awesome right? I thought so. lol.

Concealer:                 $3.49 (50% off)
Liquid Foundation:      $3.99 (50% off)
Powder Foundation:   $7.99
Mascara:                   $8.49
Lashes:                      $3.00
Adheasive:                 $2.49

 --------------
Rewards Coupon:    -$7.50
                           --------------
                                $21.95

Munchie of the Week

Ahh. So I went to watch Pitch Perfect on Friday and instead of buying the really expensive candy from the concession stand at the theater, I went to CVS and bought my chocolate from there. I got chocolate covered pretzel balls. They were 3 for $3.00 so we got two of those and the chocolate covered raisins. CVS brand of course. They were pretty good :) And saved me a shiiiit load of money xD

Well, that's it for my haul this week. Did you get anything awesome this week?

SUMMARY:
Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa's body screams at her to run... but yet she's powerless to move.

Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees - and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell - Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.

Because what Alessa hasn't figured out yet is that she's not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university's idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface...

The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.

REVIEW:
Ana: Welcome fellow bloggers!! Today we’re gonna do this review a bit differently. Neyra @ Darkest Addictions and I-- say hello, Neyra…

Neyra:  *waves* hey blogworld ^_^

Ana: So, Neyra & I went ahead and buddy read Stitch for this tour and decided we needed to share our awesome responses together in a buddy review!

Neyra: Mhm ^-^ our reaction was the same, so here we are!  I’ll admit though, I first fell in love with the cover... My regular bloggers know I’m such a cover-whore xD Lol

Ana: Yes… She is a BIG A** cover whore.

Neyra: -.-t

Ana: When you first dive into Stitch, you’re introduced to Alessa Khole.

Neyra: Right, the protagonist, a freshman at Eastern State University. After the death of her parents, Alessa struggles to keep focus; and the last thing Alessa expected upon arriving at ESU was to be seeing ghosts. What I loved from the beginning of the story was that there was no going around the matter. We’re diving straight into the heart of the book…but who is this mysterious ghost with the alluring blue eyes? And why is Alessa the only one in a house full of women (Sorority) that can see him?

Ana: Right, this book definitely catches your eye from the beginning. When Alessa is having her nightmare and leaves you hanging, you’re wondering just what the heck is going on. What kind of campus goes above and beyond with security cameras? Hell, my college campus doesn’t have a single camera.

Samantha Durante spins this story right from the beginning. She imagines this college life and you’re thrown right into it, believing that you’re on a college campus and that this “mysterious ghost” is just that, a ghost, a mighty cute ghost with the most amazing blue eyes. (Insert massive fangirling here)

Neyra: Lol well that just shows how much your campus loves you xD I thought so too though, WTH makes a college so skittish as to put THAT many security cameras around? o.O It unnerved me, but it seemed that Alessa was the only one to take notice, which kind of bothered me as well.  I did like that Samantha’s writing is able to capture the college life so easily that you’re transported to the world itself, making for a very easy, light and fun read.

Oh you swoony girl! >.< I loved the “ghosts” amazing blue eyes too xD *swoons right along with you* What I was expecting from the character and what we got was totally different. I was thinking Alessa would be interacting w/ the ghost here and there that it’d be THAT kinda ghost love story, but once again Samantha surprised me. Cause and I hope this doesn’t spoil it; there was NO interaction what so ever. And it was frustrating, but at the same time kept me on edge thinking, “Shit, will they- and how- or when will they finally communicate??” :O

Ana: I’m right there with you with the “No interactions” thing between Alessa & the ghost. But, I did like that as you continue to read, the ghost was popping up more (even if it was for a few seconds). Samantha does leave a few hints along the way as the book progresses, but you won’t realize it until you actually read about it and think back and say, “Well, shit… duh.”

Neyra: Exactly.  She hints at Alessa and her mysterious ghost’s past throughout the book. So you’re left here thinking, okay, so, they know each other. But the question is, how? He’s a ghost? So then, he’s dead? Wth?? o.O

Ana: Right, at first I thought “okay, is this some kind of reincarnation kinda thing?”

Neyra: I just thought it was a GHOST love story xD LOL

Ana: Lol. Of course you did. Any who, enough of Neyra’s ghost fetish--

Neyra: Hey now, there is nothing wrong w/ my ghost fetish thank you! -.-

Ana: --The characters in this book, I thought, really contributed to making the book what it is. Alessa’s character is naïve and lost but at the same time, she has the other feelings that she doesn’t know where they’re coming from, which I think makes her stronger. She knows that there’s something more, something bigger to this picture than what’s in front of her. Then we have Janie, who is a little bubble of sunshine. I absolutely love Janie, she’s… AWESOME!

Neyra: Lol I liked Janie’s character too. She seemed to keep Alessa grounded, and though she might have thought Alessa was a little crazy because of her ghost, at least she indulged her in going along with it.  There was very little interaction w/ any of the others surrounding Alessa though, which I kind of would have liked… A little… Okay sort of…maybe xD

Ana: Yeah, little interactions with the other characters, but what little interaction there was, you can see their personalities shine through. Lizzie? Yeah, I definitely got snobby off of her. Nikhil? Wheeew. I know there’s going to be another book… can he please, please, please have more time in that one, Samantha?

Neyra: Oh, I know right. I didn’t really like Lizzie at all, made me want to slap her around... but I guess Alessa’s not the violent type *shrugs* And Nikhil, I was for sure thinking there’d be a love triangle-- Phew! Glad there isn’t... but I’m hoping he comes back... I would like some more screen time w/ him… err… for character development... uhm... Well, to see him more… uhh… go on Ana, take over….

Ana: Lol. More… screen time, uh huh okay Neyra *winks* xD

Neyra: Hush you!! >.<

Ana: About a little more than half way through the book, Samantha throws you a curve ball and that curve ball throws off your entire thought process with the book. Secrets are revealed and everything just CLICKS and you suddenly realize what’s going on. Samantha definitely had me going and believing the “overprotective” security detail.

Neyra: Oh Right, and that’s when things REALLY get interesting! I was glued to the pages of the book once it started to pick up. That plot twist, I was not expecting. And it definitely had me riveted to my seat. Now, we can’t speak too much on this since it’ll be a spoiler, and really, no one likes a party pooper; just know that it’s disturbing to find out what the “overprotective” campus security really entails.  Everything will make sense, we promise, and you’ll love every minute of it ;)

Ana: Spoilers indeed. As the book comes to a close, we learn a little more about who Isaac is and just who Isaac and Alessa are to each other. But then again, more spoilers, so I’ll stop there.  Samantha leaves us with a big ol’ cliffhanger in the end. WHYYYYYY, I can’t wait this long for the next book. There’s still so many questions and so much more I want to know.

Neyra: Oh tell me about it >.< *sigh* I want more… but I liked that at least we get to learn about Isaac, and what he and Alessa have had to suffer through. This is definitely a dystopia unlike any other. And I love it! >.< Book two needs to come out tonight!! xD

Ana: This book is definitely worth the read.  I agree, the second book needs to come out tonight…or… right now *snaps fingers* shiiiiiiiet… no magic. xD This isn’t my first go-around with Dystopian, but Stitch definitely makes me love Dystopian a little more.

Neyra: I’m glad you liked it. I’ve had a run in with Dystopian novels a time or two myself, and I gotta say, it’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine.  So, overall Ms. Beach Bum, what are you rating this book? Come on, spill woman :)

Ana: I’m rating this book: 5 black cats ;) I was engrossed from beginning to end. That’s pretty rare for me. What about you Ms. Addictions?

Neyra: I gotta agree, this book is engaging from the start, though it was a slow start for me at first, it was still very appealing, and I loved every minute of it. So... 5 awesomely naughty bunnies for me ;)

Ana: Well, that concludes our buddy review for Stitch by Ms. Durante. I highly recommend this book. Love yourself some Dystopian? Grab this book ASAP! Love a little mind twisting, thought provoking book? Well, Samantha Durante gives that to you with this book! And we’re all lucky enough that it’s a series ^_^

Neyra: Lol Agreed! Thank God it’s not over! The sequel to Stitch, Shudder, should be out soon... I hope... a little help here Ms. Durante!! D: LOL Thanks for having me over Ms. Beach Bum :D

Ana: A pleasure as always, Ms. Addictions. There will always be a hammock for you here at Beach Bum Reads and of course unlimited tropical drinks at your disposal ;)

Neyra: Must you tempt me? LOL. Thanks, Hon, and you know there’s always extra cookies on the Dark Side for ya, and plenty of hawt alpha’s to go around… save for MY SPECIAL HANDS-OFF MEN!! ;]

Ana: *laughs and walks away*

3 Birds, 1 Stone

Okay. Since no one left a question in the comments for Tuesdays question... I picked one myself... AND because I've been super busy and missed on posting Wednesdays and Thursdays question. I'm going to kill 3 birds with one stone.
Day 3: Give pictures of 5 guys who are famous who you find attractive.
So, you know, had to spice things up a bit... Yuuum went from favorite candy to EYE CANDY ;) Alright, enough with the chitchat here's my Top 5 Hawt, Famous Men ;) DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!
1. Dwayne "THE ROCK" Johnson
2. Chris Hemsworth
 3. Jason Mamoa
4. Ian Somerhalder
5. Columbus Short
Day 4:  Why do you like said guys?
1. Oooh man! This man... I don't care how old he is! He is SEEEZZY!  Of course, like most people, I first heard of Dwayne Johnson when he was the People Champ. Y'all know, the raised eyebrow and everythaaang! He had some hair back then! But he's still sezzy. I actually think he's better looking now than back then. *shrugs* Love his smile too.

2. Thor... YES, PLEASE! Gossh. Have you heard this man talk? Love his Aussie accent ^_^ Lol... I absolutely loved him in Thor. Go on and swing ya hammer, ol' sezzy ass xD

3. Wheew. If you don't know Jason Mamoa then you're missing out! he starred in Conan The Barbarian. And had a small part on Game of Thrones (Season 1) before being killed off. I love him with dreads. He definitely pulls it off. Hell, as long as his hair is long, I'd run my fingers through it ;)

4. SEZZY = 100% Yes, Sir! Ian Somerhalder, or known as Damien Salvatore to all you Vampire Diaries fans! I stopped watching this show a few seasons ago, but... did he get with Elena? Laaawd. I like both Salvatore brothers, I just think Ian's cuter sezzier ;) Those EYES! Wheew. He can stare at me all day. I would't mind one bit ^_^

5. Okaaay. I first saw Columbus Short in Stomp the Yard.. I'm sure most of you had. BUUUT. What made me fall in love with him, is his new character in Scandal. Oh man.. THis man in a suit ;) Wheew. Just tall dark and handsome.
Day 5: (From Neyra) We know you love the beach, any tropical destination you're dying to visit?
Wheeeew. Let's see... I've been to Hawaii a handful of times. But, I'd love to go again. The beaches there are awesome :) Plus, who wouldn't love to look at shirtless locals? ;) Another destination that I'd love to visit would have to be Samoa. Some of you know that I am Samoan, my mom's from American Samoa and my dad's from Hawaii. Well, I've been to Hawaii, but never to Samoa, I've seen pictures and it's BEAUTIFUL. I want to experience it myself. The water there is CLEAR. Crazy clear. Not like here in Cali, polluted beyond belief -____-

Okay, feel free to answer any of these questions in the comments below :) If you have any questions you want to ask me, don't hesitate to ask :)

Feature & Follow #10

Feature & Follow is a weekly meme hosted by, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Each week, each host will have their own Feature Blog which allows them to show off more new blogs! It is a fun way to keep in touch with fellow bloggers, meet new bloggers and gain new followers.

This Weeks Question Is:

What do you hope to accomplish with your blog? Is it to one day become an author yourself, just for fun, maybe get some online attention, or maybe something very different?
Wheew it has been too long since I've done a FF. So with that being said on with the show...er-question. Hmm. Let's see. What do I hope to accomplish with my blog...Uh. Nothing? Hell, I don't know. Let's start with why I started my blog. I started my blog, because I've always wanted to start one (I know... lame answer) but it's the truth. I love to write and I love to voice my opinion on things. And I can do that with my blog. Conversations. DOPE conversations. I love having these on my blog in my comments. It's like a chat box for days. ^_^

Oh, yeah! I'm a BIG attention whore. I'll just stand here and scream "LOOK AT ME! LOOK. AT. ME!" lol. yeaaah, NO -___-. Not me. I really have that "I don't give a fuck attitude" pardon my french, but, again... it's the truth. I just love using social networks to my advantage. Believe it or not, you can build some very strong bridges through your social networking. As well as make awesome friends.

All in all, this blog is for fun and interacting with other fellow bloggers. What about you? What do you hope to accomplish with your blog?

Sweet Tooth

Day 2: Question: Hmmmm... Ana, what's your favorite candy? :D *random i know >.< lol*
Okay, I know this post is kinda late. it's been a semi-busy day for me, but here it is! This question came from Neyra @ Darkest Addictions. Let's see. My favorite candy would have to be snickers. I love, love, love SNICKERS! HUNGRY? Grab a Snickers! lol. seriously though. Its fulfilling! I'm just a chocolate junkie all together. If there's chocolate in it, I'm so eating it! lol. Me & Chocolate have been having an ongoing affair for the longest! lol. FACT: I call my ex white chocolate. Cause he's white and he talks like he's a thug. I oughta just slap him for that one. But it's cute. To me anyway. xD

So, what's your guys' favorite candy? You know you have a mighty sweet tooth! Do you like them sweet or sour?

Feel free to leave questions in the comment box & I just might pick it for my next question to answer :)

Tuesday Jams #7

Tuesday Jams is a weekly post hosted by Sharonda @ Salacious Reads. This is a way to share with others your love (other then books of course) for music! Want to participate? Easy! Head on over to Salacious Reads & link back up with her Tuesday Jams post in her comments section!
To kick off the month of October. I've decided to put together a playlist that I think goes really well with Halloween. I'll be adding to this playlist as the days tick by. I also plan on keeping the music player with these songs for the rest of the month. Lol. But I will be participating in Tuesday Jams, but I'll most likely just focus on one song out of the list of songs. I'll leave the list & picture below of each artists and where I heard the song and why I like it :)
1. Florence + the Machine - Seven Devils
So, I've heard of Florence + the Machine but I've never really been big on their music. I love Florence's voice, I just didn't love their songs, though their music is great. So, I was catching up on my TV watching. Lol, yes CATCHING UP. I haven't been watching much TV as of late, I usually just record the shows I watch on DVR & watch them later. BUT now I watch them on my computer. Thanks to DishOnline. Probably the only thing I like about Dish Network. Verizon Fios is way better in my opinion. But hella expensive *sigh* At least my internet is still Verizon ^_^

Anywho, back to the song! So, like I said, I was catching up on my shows that I've been missing and one of them is Revenge, starring Emily VanCamp and airs on ABC. If you haven't watched this show, then you're definitely missing out! So, at the ending of Season 1 some real shit went down lol. and the ending song was fucking EPIC! Tied it all up really well. And that song was Seven Devils by Florence + the Machine.. wheeew. Damn. So good. I really like the beat behind this song also, Florence's voice definitely gave me chills the first time I heard it & have had it on repeat since I've heard it. The lyrics are really good too. If you just sit there and actually listen to them. Seven Devils is on the Ceremonial Album, Florence + the Machine's second album and was released on Oct. 28, 2011.

For all you Revenge fans, Season 2 has started (S02E01 - Destiny - was aired last week Sep. 28)

Well, that's my pick for this week :) Next week I'll be picking another song on my October playlist :)

Welcome back to another week of AMAD! To kick of this month, I've decided to go with Luke Carson, trauma surgeon extraordinaire. I chose Luke because he's smart... I'm sorry. Smart men are just mighty f***'n sexy to me! It helps a lot that he's a wounded guy that his own doctor self can't fix. Don't mind if I help myself lol! I picked this particularly sezzy scene, because it's the first time Luke & Janica are together and they've had this burning desire for each other since FOREVER and are now beginning to quench that thirst. He's a bit bossy. I like it ;) lol

Reverently, she raised one hand to him to touch him softly with the pad of her index finger. She ran it down the shaft, over the raised veins, felt them throb beneath her light touch.
He was so hot, velvety smooth skin stretched over steel.
   So beautiful.
   And all hers.
   For one night.
Salivating at the thought of tasting him, of running her tongue up, down, and around his shaft, she forced herself to take it slow by wrapping her hand around his huge shaft first. Her hands were fairly average-sized for a small woman, but even once she added her second hand above the first, she didn't come close to spanning the full length.
Finally, she raised her eyes and found him staring down at her with such desire it literally took her breath away. Unable to do anything but react, she tightened her grip on his shaft. His arousal slipped out and onto her fingers.
   “Use your mouth.”
His words were gritty and filled with stark need, less a demand now than a plea of his own.
Didn't he already know that nothing could have stopped her from taking him in her mouth? Still, there was something impossibly sexy about his telling her what to do. And when to do it.
   Just this once.
Tonight with Luke, all rules were off.
Which worked perfectly for a woman who had never much cared for following the rules.
A moment later she was leaning in closer, breathing in the clean, heady scent of his arousal, and then hot, hard flesh was on her tongue and she was taking him into her mouth, opening up as wide as she could to accommodate not only his thick head but the wide shaft that followed as well.
His hands had threaded through her hair, holding her against him. Her hands were on his thighs and his quadriceps bunched and tightened beneath her fingertips with every inch deeper that she managed to take him into her throat. With gentle pressure, he rocked himself further into her and she made herself relax the muscles in her throat to take even more.
Her mouth still on him, she groaned at the delicious thought of being stretched wide...everywhere. His erection throbbed hard once, then twice in her mouth. His fingers tightened in her hair.
“Don't do that again,” he growled. “Hell, don't even move.”
Suddenly, she could taste more of him, and knew that her inadvertent groan must have reverberated all around him.
Feeling wicked, she hummed really, really softly. God, he was delicious.
A heartbeat later, her mouth was empty.
Still on her knees, she watched him yank off his shirt, take off his shoes, and shed his pants and boxers completely.
Belatedly realizing she was sitting there with her mouth hanging open, she gave him a saucy little smile. “Now that I've started to get used to how big you are,” she paused, licking her lips, “I bet I can do even better than that.”
But instead of stepping closer and shoving himself back into her willing mouth, he reached down and picked her up, one arm sliding beneath her legs, the other around her back, and headed down the hall, obviously looking for her bedroom.
   “Later. I need you. Now.”

SUMMARY:
For two years running (2011 & 2012) Above the Universe Below was was a semi-finalist in Amazon.com's Breakthrough Novel Award and Publishers Weekly:

"Brilliant writing carries this pleasantly odd tale of an agoraphobic artist, Carder Quevedo... Carder's road is not an easy one, but readers will be rooting for him in this unusual and beautifully written book."

An agoraphobic artist in our world but a grim reaper in another, Carder Quevedo hides at home, immersing himself in the paintings which commemorate the strange deaths he's witnessed. He ventures into public only when necessary, scrambling to his hospital job to extract corneas from deceased donors or darting to the diner to share a meal with Darren, his only friend. That's Carder's existence - and he's content.

Until...

Haika changes that. As the bored, beautiful owner of an art gallery - who also happens to be married - she stumbles into Carder in a chance encounter and soon becomes obsessed with his art. As they forge a quirky, electric relationship, Carder is reluctantly pulled into Haika's social world of wealth, status and the peculiar characters that come with it. Carder is pushed further to the edge when his teenage niece visits, rebelling against her ultra-conservative upbringing. All the while, Carder's hidden history threatens to ruin his developing chance at normalcy, and on the opening night of his art gallery show, his past finally catches up to his present and wreaks havoc upon them all.

EXCERPT:
Haika’s mouth is obscured behind an empty Styrofoam cup riddled with repeating arches of gentle teeth-marks she’s bitten into it like colorless rainbows perforating white sky. She meets Carder’s gaze with a mischievous smile, enjoying the role of spectator and anthropologist. She’s relaxed, as if sitting in a bubble bath with a goblet of wine in hand, reading this all in a novel someone lent her.

Love.

That’s what Haika is: love. Not just love for Mike or art or New York. Haika is love in every moment. She’s loving to Carder, to his relatives, to the Carlisle boys. But she’s more. She’s love in the cloudless sky above, in the honey she brought for tea, in the music she tries to soundtrack Carder’s life with, in the thrift-store clothes she’s wearing, in the ascot knotted at her chin, in her bare feet sliding through what would once have been war-torn grass, in the sadness sometimes hiding in the corners of her lips. She brings love to every moment… something Carder has never seen in another person. Ever. He obsesses over every detail, and gulps down the harrowing thought that he’ll one day lose her. He tries to be love like Haika is, to laze on the hammock of friendship hanging from her eyes right now. He fills with gratitude. This has actually happened. She had actually been in his life, and no one can take that away. Carder could live off it for decades and fully plans to.
