TRUE BLOOD

YES! I am now a fan of True Blood.. Well, I wouldn't say fan just yet... I started watching it earlier this week & I am 4 episodes into season 1. So far.... I like it :) I didn't read the books, which was mostly why I was so hesitant to watch the series. For me, if I watch the series/movie before I read the books, then I  wont ever read the books. BUT, I'll read the books and watch the series/movie. No problem! I guess I'm weird like that...

CANDY LEI'S

This week was graduation week here in So-Cal... Let me just say...I am so tired of 3 hour ceremonies! Goodness. But nevertheless I am soooo proud of my family members and all of you other graduates that graduated this year! Congrats!! So.. What does candy lei's have to do with this ? Or... More importantly... What the heck are candy lei's? Well.. Let me explain. Candy Lei's have been somewhat of a tradition that we Polynesian's make for special occasions. You are more then likely to see them at graduations (if by chance, the graduation you are attending has Polynesians attending) Candy Lei's are easy to make but are extremely time consuming! Below is a picture of my sister at her graduation (class of 2011) I hope she doesn't mind me using her pic, but I couldn't find mine :( ... Anywho... This photo is the result of hard work! and 30+ candy lei's! If you all really like this, and want to try and make some for upcoming graduations that you will be attending or for next year, let me know & I'll be happy to write a post tutorial on how to make them!! Also, We do make money lei's as well! ($100 worth of dollar bills in one lei!)

BOBA UPDATE!

 I went back to that donut shop and snapped a picture of the boba chart... and ordered me a boba hehe...Click the photo to enlarge... I highlighted the names of the one's I tried.. and put an X over the one's I didn't like. lol

Review: Bad To The Bone by Vivi Anna

MY REVIEW:

Olivia Jordan was working the night of the accident when she finds out that there are other beings besides humans out there... and who might those other beings be? Werewolves... Garrick Blackthorn is a keeper of secrets. In charge of dealing with the fallout between two werewolf clans, Garrick takes Olivia captive to see if she's seen anything or knows anything about his world. Entranced with each other, Olivia can't help but be attracted to his big, brooding, sexy man and Garrick can't stay away from the stubborn, beautiful Olivia Jordan. 

This book is really short.. So, with that being said. I'll keep this review fairly short. Since this is a short read, I thought it was okay. I'm not so sure about the characters, I think there's some promise there, and I do want to know what happens next, seeing as Garrick just took the Alpha title in the end and left me with an empty feeling. I want more.. Need more.. MORE, MORE, MORE!!

Dislikes about this book would have to be the length, of course. There really wasn't enough time. The characters were thrust upon me like, "HERE! TAKE THIS!" Definitely not enough time for character development. Now, what I did like about this book was the story as a whole. I think there's promise and I do find myself wanting to read the next book, probably not right away, but I'll definitely want to find out what's next for Garrick and Olivia.

I would not recommend this book to anyone. I just don't think it's worth the read. But, because this was a free ebook from amazon, I'll say if you want something short and to the point with a sexy werewolf thrown in the mix, then yeah, go for it.

Oooh. I am loving this weeks question..Okay, let's see.. I'd have to pick Rachel Morgan from the Hollows Series by Kim Harrison and Joanne Baldwin from the Weather Warden Series by Rachel Caine.

And the winner is:	Rachel Morgan! I absolutely love both heroines! This was an extremely hard decision. But I went with Rachel cause I think she's the better bad ass, ass-kicking heroine between the two :)

SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN

Last Sunday 6/3 I went to watch Snow White & The Huntsman with my sister and a few of her friends. I gotta say, I loved it! I thought it was really good and despite the biased opinions towards Kristen Stewart, I thought she did a good job. Let me take a minute to just say that Charlize Theron rooooocks as an evil queen! And she is incredibly beautiful *moment of envy* The mirror scene is more bad ass than in the trailers. I will say that I did a lot of comparing from the Twilight movies to SW&TH only because KStew is in it. There are a few scenes where I was like "Holy shiiii- wasn't that in New Moon?" and "Okay, for a minute there I thought she was gonna wake up with red eyes and be a blood sucking fiend!" So in a way, I think it was okay that they cast her as Snow White, cause.... yeah, I was convinced. Let me just say that I am completely disappointed that Chris Hemsworth(The Huntsman) didn't have more skin bearing scenes! All that hotness should not be covered up! It should be against the law!!! Overall, I think it was a great movie & I definitely recommend you to go watch it! :)

BTW, don't you just hate when people talk throughout a movie.. my gawd, I wanted to stand up and say "DUDEEE, STFU!!" But, I bit my tongue. Seriously, they ruined parts of the movie for me. :(

GREY'S ANATOMY

Okay, I know I am compleeeetely late on this one. But I finally caught up with Grey's Anatomy last week & I am just.... WHY?!?!?!!! ahhh. I am... I have no words... just... WHY?! Nevertheless, I am still a devoted fan & will continue to watch. lol.

 

  BOBA!!

 So, my sister and I like to go to the donut shop down the street from out house and we don't even buy donuts lol. We buy boba! What is a boba might you ask? Boba is a "Small, usually black, balls of tapioca used in beverages, which are generally consumed through a large straw; A beverage containing these balls of tapioca." The donut shop has this little picture board with a big variety of boba's. And we've made it a goal to try all of them. My favorite is the Thai Tea Boba! It is reaaaally good. If you haven't tried it, then you are missing out!! Go try it now! hehe...

Well, I think that's all for my ranting this week. I do not want this to end up being a novel lol.

One Month + Giveaway

Woot! As of today, I have been blogging for one month! For some reason, it seems like a lot longer than that. For a few years now, I've always wanted to start a blog. But never actually took the initiative to make one. Until now! This is so exciting! Being new to blogging, this feels like a new relationship. Getting to know each other, learn to love and or hate each other... oh lawd, I hope I don't have a love/hate relationship with my blog. That wouldn't be good for anyone. MY REVIEW:

The Calhouns are a family of 4 sisters who differ from each other in many ways but when it come's down to love, they are all on the same page. Trying to figure out how to save their home & find the missing emeralds from their great ancestors is proving hard work for these women. Catherine "CC" Calhoun, a stubborn, headstrong grease monkey who is also the baby of the family can't help but despise the fancy shoes man who walks into her shop when his car needs a fix. Finding out that this man is Trent St. James, the same Trent that is trying to buy the Calhouns' home, which is also a light tower that they can no longer afford. Unknowingly set up by her aunt Coco, CC finds herself, no matter how much she denies it, falling for Mr. St. James. Then there's Amanda, a bit uptight and very orderly. Finally getting her dream job, managing her own hotel, Amanda has no intentions of falling in love. When she bumps into rugged cowboy Sloan O'Riley, an architect hired by her brother-in-law Trent, Amanda can't help but feel something for this man even if that means playing hard instead of working hard. Lilah, naturalist, free spirited, and gorgeous, always wanted to fall in love but doesn't think she'll find that special someone. This is the first time I've picked up anything by Nora Roberts. Albeit, I have watched a few of her books turned movies on the Lifetime channel and I loved them. I really enjoyed this book. It's a romance through and through. We are first introduced to CC, who I love. Her character is amazing. Same with all of the other characters in this book, everyone's personality is very different but they all mesh together. I liked that through all these books, each of the girls fall in love, but there is still a family treasure hunt going on. The back story for these books is really good. Probably why I kept reading hehe. I wanted to find those dang emeralds! We are introduced to the emeralds in CC's book and it's not until Amanda's book that the emeralds take more presence, as well as the Calhoun family history. By then end of Lilah's book, the emeralds are still missing but the sisters are getting closer to figuring out where they. 


Likes and dislikes. I liked that these books ran together, and there was still a mystery with the emeralds. I also liked reading about the Calhoun family history, and how Aunt Coco & Lilah are very much into the spiritual world, and use this to further gain information finding the emeralds. As for my dislikes, well... I didn't dislike anything. 


I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you love yourself some romance! This book has a bunch of that with mystery and a little bit of thrill thrown in there. This book is a series. The next two are about Suzanna & Megan. They are already out, can't wait to read them!

(BTW... someone please answer this for me... hehe) But, in all seriousness, Do ask questions if you truly are lost or confused about something. I'm sure your fellow bloggers wouldn't mind taking a few minutes to answer your questions. We were all newbs at one point or another!

MY REVIEW: 

Brooke & Julian have been living a relatively normal life for the past six years... that is, until Julian becomes an overnight celebrity when his music career takes off. Thrust into the fancy life of Hollywood's elite, Brooke finds herself at odds with herself & her husband when she reads in the tabloids what happened last night at Chateau Marmont. Will Julian's overnight celebrity status be enough or will this bump in the road lead to an uneventful split? 

Last Night at Chateau Marmont was a really good read for me. I loved all of the characters, even the little snobby one's that roam the Hollywood scene, but still, I thought the characters were amazing. I am a big fan of Julian & Brooke. I am going to be honest with you, when I picked up this book, I read the back cover & when I read the names Julian & Brooke, I immediately thought of One Tree Hill. So, yeah, now you know why I picked up the book. But I'm glad I did. Brooke is your average female, worrying about if she looks good enough, tells herself its okay to eat that really yummy looking cookie, since you walked all the way to the dang bakers just to buy it! And maintain a job, wait.... scratch that! Maintain two jobs! For her man! If that ain't love I don't know what is. This  book was a bit of a roller coaster, but not those scary ones that practically rip your heart out by slowly climbing its way to its highest peek and keep you dangling at the top for the worst 30 seconds of your life. But this one did keep me wanting to know what Brooke would do next, how she would take all this fame in & how she would go about it. 

Likes & dislikes... hmm. I liked the relationship between Julian & Brooke, how they are with each other. Also, I liked the ending, it was more than what I was expecting. Which I won't go into detail here, for the sake of readers who haven't read the book yet. I can't really say I disliked anything, other than the slime ball manager of Julian's, but other than that I didn't really dislike anything. 

This book was a really good read, and I'm glad I picked it up! If you haven't read it yet, you should. I haven't read anything else by Weisberger, but I did watch The Devil Wears Prada and I thought that was really good.

MY REVIEW:

Best friends since childhood, Tom gets Natalie to play a game with him to both cheer her up & see if what they have could be something more than just best friends. Playing a game of alphabet weekends, Tom & Natalie switch off each letter in the alphabet, picking something out of each others element. Will they make it to Z? Or will their relationship stumble and fall apart before they could finish the alphabet? While on their escapade of adventure, Tom's sister-in-law, Lucy, struggles with her marriage when her husband looses his job and she seeks passion and lust from her best friends husband. Natalie's mother has a marriage and life that's not up to her standards in what she wanted in life and finds herself falling deep into depression.

Okay, if my boyfriend told me "lets do the whole alphabet weekends thing", I'd be on board 100% I absolutely loved this book. Going through the letters with Nat & Tom, I got caught up in the story and couldn't put down the book. I always found myself waiting impatiently for the next letter to hurry up and get here. This book isn't all lovey gushy stuff, there are some deeper stuff as well. When I started reading the little bits about Natalie's mother, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. But, I also felt really bad for Nat's dad as well. And then you get to Tom's sister-in-law Lucy, oh, my. I was praying and hoping that she wouldn't cheat on her husband.

I really liked the alphabet weekend idea in this book. I thought it was cute and fun. As for the parts I disliked, well... I disliked that Nat was so slow in figuring out her feelings for Tom. After the first few chapters, I was starting to love him! But, I think the timing and everything was really good between the two characters.

When I picked up this book, I picked it up because I read one of Nobles other novels and absolutely loved it and I'm going to say it now, I'm glad I picked up this book. I would definitely recommend this book! If you haven't read this book, you should read it now :)

MY REVIEW:

Barbara is running out of time & she knows and accepts this. Knowing that her duty as a mother will always be with her regardless of her situation, she reaches out to them, to help guide them with letters she's left behind after her passing. Barbara has four daughters: Lisa, the eldest who doesn't think she can't commit in a relationship & finds herself needing her mother more now that she's gone. Jennifer, the one who's so wound tight she could just burst. With a marriage on the rocks, Jennifer needs to learn to let go & come to terms that she can be happy and carefree. Amanda who's always traveling from continent to continent, who will only stay in one place long enough to send a post card & a call home... maybe. She's always shunned herself from her family & doesn't want to fall in love, little does she know that what she's looking for, just might be closer to home. And then there's Hannah, young, sweet Hannah. Hannah is in her early teens, just crossing that line into womanhood and her mother is abruptly taken from her. She holds it together long enough to help her dad, but soon finds herself straying to a path that is no good for her. 

When I picked up this book, I picked it up because the title really grabbed my attention. Plus, the cover is beautiful. I absolutely love my mom & wanted to read this book & find out what a mother could want her daughters to know. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end and shed tears, both happy & sad. Even though Barbara passes away early in this book, she's still there, through her letters. Elizabeth Noble did a really good job of bringing Barbara's character through in the letters. It was like she never even left. This book jumps from character to character, each time digging deeper into their lives & what's going on with them. I really enjoyed that, it kept me reading. The trials and tribulations of life can be hard, but to face them and not have your mother there to help you when you need her has got to be much harder. 

I can honestly say that I loved everything about this book, I had no dislikes. I really liked the whole "letters" thing. Of course, this book would really be nothing without those letters. But, I really did enjoy them, to think that this mom helped her daughters overcome big obstacles  in their lives & bring her family closer together from a few letters written before her death, is amazing to me. 

I really should've written this review for mothers day. I would definitely recommend this book, it was a really good read & I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I have never heard of Elizabeth Noble until now & she can is forever on my TBR list.
