I'm a UF/PNR author and my newest releases are Blood Spirit, the third book in my new series Sons of Navarus, and the Sons short stories Longing and The Deepest Cut.
For me, a book does more than just tell a story. It transports readers away from their daily lives to another place where they can be a part of something different than the common and everyday. I'm always so touched when readers tell me they felt like they were a part of the story when they read my books.
When I'm not writing, I can be found reading romance novels but often mysteries, cookbooks, and anything dealing with ancient and medieval history and European history, in general. I also love the outdoors, so I enjoy the wonderful weather Pennsylvania has to offer. I live there with my son and a herd of pets.own.

Review: Full Blooded by Amanda Carlson

Full Blooded
(Book #1 in the Jessica McClain series)

Amazon | Goodreads | BN

Author: Amanda Carlson
Publisher: Orbit (September 11, 2012)
Genre: Adult, Urban Fantasy 352 pages

ISBN-10: 0316205206
ISBN-13:
978-0316205207
My Copy: Paperback

SUMMARY:
Born the only female in an all male race, Jessica McClain isn’t just different—she’s feared.

After living under the radar for the last twenty-six years, Jessica is thrust unexpectedly into her first change, a full ten years late. She wakes up and finds she’s in the middle of a storm. Now that she’s become the only female full-blooded werewolf in town, the supernatural world is already clamoring to take a bite out of her and her new Pack must rise up and protect her.

But not everyone is on board. The werewolf Rights of Laws is missing text and the superstitious werewolves think that Jessica means an end to their race. It doesn’t help when Jessica begins to realize she’s more. She can change partway and hold her form, and speak directly to her wolf. But the biggest complication by far is that her alpha father can't control her like he can the rest of his wolves.

When a mercenary who’s been hired by the vampires shows up to extract information about the newly turned werewolf only days after her change, they find themselves smack in the middle of a war and there's no choice but to run together. When it’s up to Jessica to negotiate her release against her father’s direct orders, she chooses to take an offer for help instead. In exchange, Jessica must now swear an oath she may end up repaying with her life.
MY REVIEW:
Jessica McClain is the only born female in an all out male pack. Being the only female, she's looked down at, but because her father is the alpha of the pack, she's been hiding from the supe community, hiding her true identity to try and live a normal life. Well, as normal as any female werewolf can.

Jessica McClain never thought she'd make her first transition into her wolf form. After the age came and gone when she should have turned with her twin brother, she was chased out of the pack and she never looked back. And the night Jessica turned, her life was turned upside down. So upside down that even her enemy (longtime grudge holding enemy) happens upon the site of her transition, he is determined to bring her down and he wont stop at nothing. And not to mention a possible mate that just might be out to kill her.

I absolutely loved Full Blooded! Amanda Carlson brings you into the world of this all male pack and this world is just boiling with testosterone. Very sexy wolfy testosterone at that. And there's more then just wolfy goodness in this book, you get a few side characters with a bit of paranormal spunk to them as well. And I thought that those characters added more to the story. Though, it probably would have been just as awesome without them. But still, gotta love the suped up characters!

Jessica's character is badass and fierce and even if she's the only girl in an all male pack, she hold her own and she doesn't show any fear. To be surrounded by that many males. wheew. *wipes brow* one lucky girl. Aside from Jessica's fan-frkn-tastic character, the supporting characters were totes awesome as well. All big and manly. Oh, yeah. ;)

Protective: CHECK.
Alpha: CHECK.
EXTRA ALPHA: CHECK, CHECK.
EXTRA ALPHA WITH WHIPPED CREAM ON TOP: nom nom nom. Go away, I'm eating ;)

I would definitely recommend this book. If you're a lover of paranormal awesomeness and love yourself mighty alpha werewolves and strong heroines than Full Blooded is right up your alley. And all your lovers out there for romance, Amanda Carlson does not leave you hangin'. With all the kickassness going on, Carlson tosses in a mate with hungry eyes that leaves you panting and wanting more. I know I do ;)

Manicure Monday #7

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!

SUMMARY:

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Welcome back lovely people! It's MONDAYYYY!! YES, the only exciting thing about Monday, is that I get to show off my new mani! And we're 4 days closer the weekend hahaha.

Alrighty. So I did my nails on Saturday (big surprise for me too lol)  And then redid my ring fingers on Sunday (because I just bought a polish and wanted to try it out... and well... you know, I let the polish get the best of me).

Mani #1 - Saturday's madness

Mani #2 - Glitterfied Sunday!

Let us all just take a second here to swoon of Travis Maddox ;)

WOOT! Walking Disaster was a really good book. Like... How can it go wrong when you get Travis Maddox delivered to you on a silver platter?

Description: I did an ombre design on all of my fingers except for my ring finger. I used Milani's Dude Blue and Sinful Colors Captivate Me blended in a white polish to lighten the colors up a bit.  (I didn't want the colors too matchy, matchy with the butterfly on the cover, but with the gradient from light blue to purple—I didn't just want to use blue, even if it was in different shades...yes, yes I'm a color whore.)

Two coats of the ombre blue - purple. Added a top coat to protect that design. Then got two glitter polished: NYX Girls Under The Moon (blue) and NYX Girls Fame (purple) and did an ombre with that to layer over our first ombre.  Add your top coat and voila!

Mani #1: For the ring fingers on this one, I just did a white base coat added a top coat to protect that. And then added a gradient butterfly using my stamp tool.

Mani #2: For the ring fingers on this one, I used NYX Girls White as a base and then added 2 - 3 coats of Sinful Colors Frenzy glitter polish (this is that new polish I was tellin' y'all about). As you can see, you can't even see that white base xD I got a little glitter happy ;)

Yepp. Y'all read that right. Today I'm gonna cover DIRTY POP! And what artist might you say falls under Dirty Pop? JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE of course ;) For me (and this is just my opinion) Justin Timberlake is the only artist who does Dirty Pop.

Dirty Pop is a genre in music that is Hip Hop but with a heavy influence of Pop.

Back to JT. For those of you who don't know, Justin's latest album, The 20/20 Experiment, (half of it) dropped on March 19th, 2013 and JT himself said that the second half of The 20/20 Experiment will drop in November.

One of my fave songs off of this album, is Mirrors.

Manicure Monday #6

Manicure Monday is a meme hosted by Nite Lite Book Reviews. Take your current read and give yourself one fantastic manicure!

SUMMARY:
Vegas Knights is the much-anticipated novel-length sequel to Marina’s popular erotic/romantic short story Knight Fall. The books can be read on their own or in sequence.

After a passionate public encounter with a mysterious and very sexy biker, big girl Kelly Saunders finds herself on the ride of her life. Her 'Knight on shining armor' — Rick Knight, heir to a motorcycle legacy — whisks her away from her soul-sucking corporate job to Las Vegas, where she finds the road to love is treacherous.

As urgent business matters demand more and more of Rick’s attention, Kelly is left to wonder about the future of their relationship. A ruthless betrayal throws her life into turmoil, and a devastating discovery threatens to pull them apart. Is their love just so much Vegas glitter or is it strong enough to survive beyond the dazzling lights of Sin City?

Welcome back to another fantastic Monday! I hope y'all had an awesome Easter. I know I did... well, you know, you can never go wrong with food! lmbo! I think I'm gonna need to put in work at the gym this week. *wipes brow*

I thought this was pretty simple. Do one hand at a time folks. You don't want loose glitter to adhere to your wet nail!

Ahh. Vegas Knights. Really good book in my opinion. I finished it in a day...well, really a few hours. So.. I didn't really want to do anything too similar to the cover, and this book is pretty much based in Vegas, so I thought I'd do something with a little bling. And so I give you glitter tips! I just took some gold glitter (because it's pretty much the only loose glitter I have that somewhat goes with the cover. Plus i think it shouts Vegas....right? or am I trippin'?)

Directions:
1.Paint the tip of your nails with your base coat (or any clear coat)
     2. Dip the tip of your nail into glitter
                      OR
Use a brush (make up brush or paint brush) to apply loose glitter (patting it onto nail)
     3. Tap off/remove excess glitter (you can use a q-tip for this)
    4. Add your top coat onto the tip of your nail where your glitter is (Do this so that you seal in that glitter!) and let dry
     5. Apply two top coats!

Nail polish used: NYX girls nail hardener for base & Revlon's Quick Dry Top Coat

TBR Pile Knockout #8

TBR Pile Knockout is a weekly meme hosted by Ana of Beach Bum Reads and Anna of Herding Cats & Burning Soup. This meme was created to tackle our HUGE and STILL GROWING TBR piles.

We will be posting on the FIRST of EVERY month for the rest of the year. Our goal is to make a rather nice dent in our TBR piles. So, aside from our other lovely reads, we will be making sure ONE book out of our TBR pile will be read :)

Want to join in? Check out the rules:

1. Go to your TBR pile and randomly pick one book off your list!
  • We'll be using random.org to pick our reads.
  • Type in the number of books in your TBR pile where it says "MAX"
  • Then click generate and it will give you your randomly selected book!
  • NOTE: If the book chosen via random.org is part of a series, you can go ahead and read the first book in said series.
2. Come back here each week (or however often you'd like to join in) and link up your "TBR Pile Knockout" post in the linky below!

Don't know what to write in your post? You can Add the cover for your book, the book summary and details (author, publisher, etc.), you can leave a line or two on how long that book was sitting in your TBR Pile, or just tell us what you think about starting this one! QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT: Anna and I have decided to push the meme to one book a month. That way we wont suck at our own meme. *sigh* Sad, I know. BUT, that means if you've been hesitant to jump in because of the timing and the amount of books, then FEAR NO MORE! lol. Of course, if you finish one book before the month is finished, you are more then welcome to randomly select another book, or just pick one out from your TBR pile that you've been wanting to read.

***

Lol. Sooo. I didn't even get around to this one. Though, I do plan on getting to it this month. I've knocked out quite a bit of review books last month and am fairly free to read whatever my little heart desires ^_^ I WILL conquer these books. WILL!!

Still need to read:

Exiled: 1% done
Awakening: 0% done
The Seer's 7 Deadly Fairy Tales: 34% done - I've attempted at this one and I'm just not feeling it. So, it shall sit on this TBR list until I feel I can pick it up without reading and not comprehending a dang word read.
How Sweet It Is: 0% done
♥Minding Amy: 61% done - ^_^ This one I started the week it was chosen, I just haven't had time to really read anything for this meme. What with blog tour reviews and what not. But I am happy that I'm more then halfway done :)

This time my pick is...

So, what was your random pick this week?
