Tuesday Jams #3

Tuesday Jams is a weekly post hosted by Sharonda @ Salacious Reads. This is a way to share with others your love (other then books of course) for music! Want to participate? Easy! Head on over to Salacious Reads & link back up with her Tuesday Jams post in her comments section!
Hey you guys! I know, I know, this is a super late post. But, better late then never right? I had a long day so I'm just now getting around to posting anything. This weeks Tuesday Jams pick is a tad bit different. I'm picking a YouTube artist or... better yet, a YouTube Group!! I absolutely love this group. First off, who is it that I picked? FOURTUNATE!! Fourtunate is a group of 4 guys from Australia... yepp, you heard that right ladies, AUSTRALIA! I heard of them back when they first made their first YouTube video and have loved them ever since. They don't have any of their own music out, but they do covers/mash-ups of hit songs. The group consists of 3 brothers and a friend of theirs, age range from 17-20 *sigh* I can look, but I can't touch lmbo. Me and younger men do NOT mix! lol. Anywhooo, they recently just auditioned AGAIN for Australia's X-Factor *round of applause* and they blew the judges away! Here's my favorite covers from them and the last video is their audition

Wheeew! You know I love me some Marvin Gaye and when I heard they covered this song, I just melted a little ;)

Ahh. Okay, I love this cover too ^_^ *sigh* Something about a guy who can sing... and play guitar?? Shoot. If you can do that, you just won my heart ;)

Last but not least... their X-Factor audition!

Meet the guys!!
Left to right: Jaye, Joseph, Izayah and Jakiel

That's my pick for this week. Hope y'all enjoyed it :)

Alpha-Males After Dark #1

Alpha-Males After Dark is a weekly meme hosted on Monday's (After hours of course) by Ana here @ Beach Bum Reads and Neyra over @ Darkest Addictions. Alpha-Males After Dark is an 18+ meme that has your favorite smutty scene from a book of your choice with your favorite Sezzy Alpha-Male. Following this, you will state why you chose said Sezzy Alpha-Male and that particular hawt & heavy scene. Your post can be as explicit or as conservative as you want. Just spill the deets, you know we will ;)

To join in on all the steamy fun all you have to do is link back up in the link section below and be a follower of both Beach Bum Reads & Darkest Addictions. Have fun! ;)

You can use our meme button above by grabbing the link below or make one of your own ^_^

Reaching up, Kade caressed her breasts with his hands as he slowly kissed his way down her stomach. Sydney writhed on the bed in anticipation. She felt a kiss to her hip, a kiss to her thigh, a kiss below her belly button. Kade slowly spread her legs feasting upon the sight of her waxed, bare beauty. He ran a hand down her mound and felt her shiver underneath his touch. He planned to tease her again and pleasure her beyond her wildest dreams. Lowering his head, he kissed along the crease of her legs. Not being able to resist any longer, his tongue ran up and down her lips. He pressed his mouth into the core of her, sucking her tender nub.
Sydney splayed her arms to each side of the bed and grasped the sheets in a tight hold. Her reaction to his mouth on her delicate skin was so intense she thought she would fly off the bed. Colors danced in her head as Kade licked and suckled her sex. Sydney began to beg him again as her body filled with overpowering sensations. “Kade, oh my God. That feels so good. I...I...Please.” This man has driven me to incoherence.
Kade slowly plunged a finger, then two into her sex while continuing to lick her, concentrating on her soft bundle of nerves. He slipped in and out of her as he drank her luscious essence, bringing her closer and closer to release. He loved hearing her beg and longed to reward her. He gently curved his fingers inside stroking her thin line of sensitive fibers. As he stroked her, he flattened his tongue along her nub pressing down hard, then sucking, tantalizing her over the cliff of arousal.

Oookay. Gahhh it took me forever and I mean FOREVER to decide who to pick for my very first sezzy alpha *sigh* I went ahead and chose Kade from Kade's Dark Embrace by Kym Grosso. Why?? Because this is the first book I read this year in PNR that left me wanting more. Kade is most definitely a Sezzy Alpha-Male. Being the HVIC (Head-Vamp-In-Charge) in New Orleans, Kade won't take bullshit from anyone and will protect with a fierceness like no other. He hasn't been with a human so him being with Sydney was a major plus for me.. Lucky bishh! I oughta just jump into the book and -- *sigh* Anywho... I chose the above scene because it's where Kade FINALLY get's to have his way with Sydney & obviously this guy is all about pleasin' his woman!  ^_^ Where does this line start? I need to jump in and cut a few folks hehe.

That's my pick for this week, come on and share your Sezzy Alpha-Male with us... we won't bite... too hard ;)

Random Ramblings: Currently Reading #4

Random Ramblings: Currently Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Neyra @ Darkest Addictions Book Reviews every Monday. It's where you talk about the book(s) you are currently reading for the week and whether or not you're enjoying it, how you heard of it, and who recommended it to you.

Okay, I figured since I'm up early, I'll post my Random Ramblings: Currently Reading post before I head off to school. Laaawd knows it's been a few weeks since I've posted one of these.
*CLICK ON COVER TO TAKE YOU TO GOODREADS*

I am currently reading The Last Degree by Dina Rae. I received this book to review through Holly over at Full Moon Bites Book Tours. I am currently 12% into the book. I can't say that I like it, but I can't say that I hate it either. It is interesting, I'll give you that. So far, I gather it's about conspiracy theories. You know, Masonry, Illuminati and the likes.

Now, why I don't think I'll like it: Because, I could give two shits about conspiracy theories. That's just me >.<

Why I'm still reading it: because regardless of what I may think, this book has captured my eye and even though I'm not big on conspiracy theories and would rather not buy into that crock-of-shit, I gotta keep in mind that this is, just a book.

So, that's what I'm reading this week. What are you reading?

Random Rants #11

 YOU DESERVE A DRINK
Okaaaay! Let me tell you guys! I was on YouTube yesterday and I ended up in the alchy's section ;) This immediately made me think of Neyra over @ Darkest Addictions. If you've been following us on Twitter or happen to have super x-ray vision into me & Neyra's emails then you know that about every single one of our tweets/emails has the words "Cheers" or "Shot?" in it *sigh* When guys are being douche bags or life is being a total B!TCH & A HALF we like to turn to our go-to men... JACK & JIM ;) BUT, WAIT! We're not alchy's lmbo.... seriously -___- Okay, well, maybe Neyra is :p Anywho.. so, like I said, I was browsing YouTube and stumbled upon Mamrie Hart's channel "YouDeserveADrink" Fkn' hilarious! Here's one of my fave videos by her ^_^

lmbo @ I sound too smart, I need to drink *CHEERS* \_/
*pours shots for all my followers.... all you age legal drinkers that is ;)*

DAILY GRACE
haha. okay. This is another YouTube account I found while browsing that "grown up" section of YouTube *cracks up... haha grown up... smh* This one has Mamrie Hart(YouDeserveADrink) in it, which I think made it that much more funny! lol. Anywho, Mamrie & Grace do a Pre-Review of 50 Shades and I thought it was HILARIOUS and thought I'd share it with you guys ^_^

That's it for this week :)

The Legion of Nothing: Rebirth
Amazon | GoodReads
Author: Jim Zoetewey
Publisher: 1889 Labs Ltd. (July 22, 2012)
Genre: YA, Superhero, 254 pages
ASIN: B008NYGG8A

SUMMARY:

"You may kill somebody today. We won't think anything less of you for it."

Nick Klein's grandfather was the Rocket.

For three decades, the Rocket and his team were the Heroes League--a team of superheroes who fought criminals in the years after World War II.

But Nick and his friends have inherited more than their grandparents' costumes and underground headquarters... they've inherited the League's enemies and unfinished business.

In the 1960's, Red Lightning betrayed everyone, creating an army of supervillains and years of chaos. The League never found out why.

Now, Nick and the New Heroes League will have no choice but to confront their past.

MY REVIEW:
The grandchildren of famous superheroes decide to take over and rid the world of all the evil. Taking it under themselves to be vigilantes and work their way from stopping petty theft's to fighting well known villain's will prove a bit difficult but not impossible for this young group of Superheroes.

I absolutely loved this book. Now, I was willing to give this book a try because I love me some superheroes but this was totally out of the genres I usually read in. Who doesn't love teen superheroes? Come on, I know you watch Teen Titan! Kick ass superheroes with some equally kick ass powers? I'm in! We're first introduced to Nick who's talking with Daniel and Cassie about making their rounds around the neighborhood. From there, everything picks up and goes into SUPERHERO mode, of course. All these kids are still in school and they balance their school life and their secret life (because no one can know who they are! DUH!!) really well. Seriously, Nick has a curfew to keep and fighting crime past 10 o'clock is a no-no!

I liked that the superheroes were teenagers and that they were just starting to get their group back together and work out a system to fight crime. Coming into their prime and bonding together as a team to fight crime and evil is really something else. I also liked (despite my big romantic heart) that there was little to no romance in this book. What I didn't like was the big scene skips. I think it might just be me though, I prefer to read books that flow nice and easy. This one had a few bumps but nothing major. I feel like the book spanned a good few months from beginning to end. But, overall, I think this book was freakin' awesome.

I would definitely recommend this book. If you love yourself some superheroes and love books with action, then this book is for you. This book is definitely action-packed and a page turner that will leave you satisfied and wanting more by the time you flip to the last page.

RATING:
Ana: Welcome to Beach Bum Reads! I am super excited that you could join me today!
Zoetewey: Thanks. I'm glad you're interested in interviewing me.

Ana: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Zoetewey: Sure. I'm basically someone with lots and lots of interests, some of which actually earn me money. I've worked as a web developer and technical support person for the most part. I'm trained in programming computers, but have experience in setting up computer networks and fixing problems in computers.
I'm also trained in writing and analyzing surveys, statistics, theology, reading Hebrew & Greek, and have an interest in history—both ancient and modern.
I enjoy reading comics, science fiction, fantasy and non-fiction.  I also enjoy writing.
Oh, I also play bass guitar—really, really badly.

Ana: What was the first book that got you into reading?
Zoetewey: I don't even remember the name, but I can describe it a little. In second grade, one of my teachers read a book about bear cubs. I later remember getting it out of the library myself, reading the whole thing through in an afternoon, and deciding I enjoyed it and doing a lot more reading after that.

Like Legion of Nothing, it was a coming of age story, but in that case, it had bears.
That said, the earliest books I remember loving and that I can name are C.S. Lewis' The Magician's Nephew and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Ana: What/who inspired you to become a writer?
Zoetewey: For me there wasn't ever a moment of inspiration. I've enjoyed reading for most of my life, and I tend to assume that if someone else can learn a skill, I can do it too. I don't assume that I'll be able to do it well, but l do assume I can figure out the basics.

I tend to reflexively analyze anything I'm involved in. While reading, I tend to notice patterns in how plots work out, the techniques used to make characters feel real, and things like that. When I feel like I understand something, I often want to try it.

As a result, wanting to write has been a constant in my life. For much of my life though, what I've lacked is a reason to sit down and write. A few years ago, I started posting sections of the Legion of Nothing online. People read it, and I found the regular schedule forced me to be more consistent about my writing. The result though, is that I've written five novels (almost) of Legion of Nothing. Now, the first has actually gone out to a wider audience than people who read my blog.

Ana: Is there anything you would like to say to aspiring writers around the world?

Zoetewey: Don't aspire—write. In the end, that's what matters. Writers tend to idealize writing, and some expect it to be easier than it actually is. I tend to think of it as hard work—enjoyable hard work, but it's still work.

The key point for any kind of work is to put yourself in a situation where you actually do the work, and do a good job at it.

Ana: I absolutely loved The Legion of Nothing! But, let’s pretend I didn’t read it for a minute. Can you tell us what it’s about?
Zoetewey: The nice thing is that that's surprisingly easy. Unintentionally, I came up with a very simple and easily explained idea: What if the grandchildren of superheroes decided to take up their grandparents' powers and identities?

Once it gets going, of course, it becomes more complicated than that. The original team's legacy lives on in many ways—a reputation to live up to, the odd leftover mystery or two, and the side effects of their attempts to keep their children and grandchildren safe.

Ana: Which character was the hardest for you to write and why?
Zoetewey: None of them were particularly hard to write in the sense of personality. In the sense of powers, Daniel was a little harder to handle. Basically, if you ever want something to remain secret for any length of time, you shouldn't have a telepath in the story.

I'm not willing to come up with a pile of artificial reasons he can't use telepathy in a certain spot in a story, so any time he'd logically use telepathy and succeed, I assumed that he would. As a result, there are a few points in the story where I had to assume Daniel would discover something that I otherwise might have left hidden for a while longer. That's not all bad, but it changes where the story goes.

Ana: If you were to have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Zoetewey: I've always liked telepathy. It tends to remove the ambiguity from people's actions. How often do people do something that makes you think, “Why did they do that? That makes no sense?” With telepathy, you'd know.
Of course there are problems with telepathy. First of all, you'd be invading people's privacy constantly. Second, I suspect that I'm probably happier not knowing exactly what some people think.

Ana: Are you currently working on anything? Care to dish?
Zoetewey: Well, I'm always working on the next Legion of Nothing novel. Soon I'll be the revising the second and third for publication. Unrelated to that, I've got a novel that I've been writing and revising since college. It's set in Holland, Michigan, the city I grew up in—which also happens to be the place where L. Frank Baum wrote a number of the Oz novels.
Hopefully I'll finish it one of these days.

Ana: Okay, one last question…and I’ve gotta ask… Are you a beach bum?
Zoetewey: It depends on what counts as a beach bum. I grew up in Holland, Michigan, a small city on the coast of Lake Michigan. I spent a lot of time at the beach as a teenager, but for me, the beach was the first step toward getting in the water. I spent more time sailing, swimming, water-skiing, and (sometimes) fishing than I ever spent on the beach.

Ana: Thanks so much for stopping by! It was a real pleasure having you here today!
Zoetewey: Thanks for having me, and I'm glad you enjoyed the first Legion of Nothing book. There will be a few more.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jim Zoetewey grew up in Holland, Michigan, near where L Frank Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz and other books in that series. Admittedly, Baum moved away more than sixty years before Jim was even born, but it's still kind of cool. He's a web developer, a religion and sociology major, and the author of the superhero series The Legion of Nothing. He's also not sure why he's writing this in the third person, but he's never seen an author bio written in first person and doesn't want to rock the boat.

Feature & Follow #9

Feature & Follow is a weekly meme hosted by, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Each week, each host will have their own Feature Blog which allows them to show off more new blogs! It is a fun way to keep in touch with fellow bloggers, meet new bloggers and gain new followers.

This Weeks Question Is:

Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?
Ohh.. uhmm.. Well, I don't really pick up a book unless I like the cover. *sigh* I know this is all bad. But I just CAN'T HELP IT! And If I didn't like the cover, well.. the book pretty much disappointed me too.
I know I'm probably definitely missing out on some awesome books because of this slight problem that I have. *shrugs* But, that's just how I am. BUT, I am working on that lol.  Now, if this question were reversed.... Yeah.. There'd be a lot of books I'd be mentioning.

What about you? HATE the cover, LOVE the book?

Random Rants #10

Random Rants is a weekly post I am starting that I will post on Sundays. I will be ranting about things I loved or didn't love from the past week...these rants do not pertain to books.

Okay, So I just finished making my rounds around the blogosphere.. Commenting here and there and EVERYWHERE! I tend to babble on and on, so SORRY if you received a mini novel from me. I couldn't help myself. Anywho... on to this weeks Random Rants!
SCHOOL IS IN SESSION
*sigh* Yeah... you read the title right, school is back! Unfortunately for us college students (and yes, I do mean UNFORTUNATELY) school starts in August. When in August? TOMORROW! lol. I know, I'm over reacting, I'm not all that upset about it, I've missed school. Really, the work, the lectures, the tests, the stress (believe it or not) and the essays. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be doing any essays this year. WHY? Well, that's because I'm only taking TWO courses (insert sobbing noise here) Yepp, only TWO. I'm taking Macroeconomics and Accounting. So more math and less writing (which sucks, because I love to write) Although, Macro can get a little wordy.

My schedule hasn't been shifted around too much. If you know me, then you know I'm a major NIGHT OWL! Up with the vamps & down with them as well. ;) My courses are only on Monday's and Wednesday's (Thank the laaawd) I usually take the city bus to school, which takes a whoppin' 2 FREAKING HOURS! *sigh* I know, I know, sad right? But, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. So, yeah, like I was saying... It takes me 2 hours to get to school by bus and roughly 30-40 minutes by car (depending on traffic). I both love and hate the timing. LOVE, because I get to read for those two hours & totally block out the noise of the city. HATE, because it's a dang bus.  So, that's a total of 4 hours of transporting. NO BUENO!

I actually only have two classes on Monday & one on Wednesday. Here's my lovely schedule...

Mind the orange boxes, those are just labs, nothing mandatory, but because I have a huuuuuge break in between those two classes, I'll most likely be in the Lab and working on homework (so I don't have to do it at HOME, of course) or reading ^_^  So, see? Not too bad for this college gal ;)

If you're wondering, I am a Business Management major with plans on double majoring in Web Design, or something design for that matter. Everything I learned that concerns designing, is self taught. But, I would love a degree to back me up.

Adding these two courses is a big step for me, not in completing my degree (though that's a big step as well), but working towards taking Honors courses. There are requirements to take Honors courses, so with these two courses, I need to maintain my cumulative GPA which is a 3.33 and or boost it up. WHICH MEANS, I can only get ONE B and ONE A... Actually, I can get B's in both courses, but that means my Cumulative GPA drops a whoppin .22 and I'm not okay with that. But I'll be okay with a B & and A. I can live with that. *shrugs*

So, yeah. This is the only topic for this weeks Random Rants. Sorry if I bored you with my words ^_^
