  • Totally awesome swag bag prize pack full of goodies from Tara Sivec (Includes paperback copies of Seductions and snacks, Futures and Frostings & Troubles and Treats)

Troubles and Treats
(Book #3 in the Chocolate Lovers series)
Author: Tara Sivec
Release Date: November 30, 2012

SUMMARY:
Drew and Jenny have spent years being the envy of their friends with their out of control sex lives - well, not really. Mostly it makes their friends want to throw up in their mouths a little.

With two little kids and two busy lives, for the first time, Drew and Jenny aren't on the same page in the bedroom. Drew will stop at nothing to get his previously amorous wife back in the sack and Jenny will do anything for a full night of sleep.

Carter and Claire, and Jim and Liz are their usual (un)helpful selves and are full of advice for the disconnected duo, wanting nothing more than to help restore order to the usually happy couple's lives.

In the third and final installment of the Chocolate Lovers Series, will Drew and Jenny find the spark that's been missing in their marriage, or will the trouble they're having cause a stickier situation than the time Jenny poured honey all over Drew and he fused himself to a tree.

EXCERPT:
I thought it would be a bunch of arguing and pointing fingers about whose fault it is that we’re not having sex anymore.

Maybe she doesn't think that’s the problem.  Shit, maybe that isn’t the problem.  Maybe it’s just my problem.  She’s not faking a work injury, she’s not cheating on me…what the hell else could it be?  A few years ago she cut me off from sex for a week because I gave her a Dutch Oven in bed one night.  While hilarious, it’s never a good idea when your wife is naked and getting ready to mount you. There was another time when I gave her a Wet Willy when she started coming.

That wasn't meant to be hilarious, I read about it in Cosmo.  When she locked me out of the bedroom I grabbed the magazine and realized two of the pages were stuck together - sex tips and practical jokes.  Well played, Cosmo.  Well played.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Seduction and Snacks
(Book #1 in the Chocolate Lovers series)
Amazon | BN | Smashwords

SUMMARY:

Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he’s asleep) toddler a better life.

When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.

With Carter’s undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire’s panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

Warning: includes explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.

Futures and Frosting
(Book #2 in the Chocolate Lovers series)
Amazon | BN | Smashwords

SUMMARY:
Carter, Claire and Gavin have formed the perfect little family. Their friends are getting married and everyone is growing up, maturing and ready to face the future. Or are they?

From bachelorette party hell, porn addictions, dinner roll baseball and botched wedding proposals to finding out everyone's extended family is chock full of crazy, Carter and Claire begin to question the strength of the ties that bind them. Unfortunately, these ties have nothing to do with fuzzy handcuffs and everything to do with the mounting differences between them.

Will their friends make a mess of things with their inappropriate comments and need to know everything, or will they convince the couple that happily-ever-after sometimes really can start with beer pong?

One RANDOM commenter chosen from the entire promo blitz tour will receive a totally awesome swag bag from Tara Sivec ;)

Talking Zombies #5

Welcome back to another week of Talking Zombies with Ana & Sharonda. Last week we covered S03E06 “Hounded” to see last week's epi of TZ click HERE. Tonight we’ll be dishing about S03E07 “When the Dead Come Knocking”
Ana: Ahh. Sharonda... Wow. Just... Wow. Overall I think that episode was a build up just to tell us that next week is the season finale... WTF. I’m not happy. lol. But it was still a good episode.

Sharonda: I totally agree Ana..it was a good show. But OMG, I want Andrea & Merle dead like right now! That damn Governor too. Glenn took the cake last night. He was so badass..he kicked that zombies ass..lols.

Ana: OMG. The governor... the feeeecking nerve of that damned man! Ugh. You’re right, Glenn totally took the cake last night, but I also think that Maggie was really good. In the middle of an apocalypse and home girl is still sportin’ a push up bra. lmbo. But in all seriousness, she was a badass last night too. I liked when she told the Governor he can go to hell. AMEN! I second that one.

Sharonda: lmao @ the push up bra..ikr. She was all bad ass too, although I swear I wanted to choke her though my TV screen when she gave up where the groups location..buuuut, after I calmed down..I knew she didn't want to see Glenn hurt, so I get it
Ana: So.. Lil’ Ass Kicker finally has a name... Judith eh? What do you think about that name?

Sharonda: meh on the name..it sounds like an old ladies name *shrugs shoulder*. I thought they would have picked Lori o_O

Ana: lol it does. haha. *shrugs* I’m sticking with Lil’ Ass Kicker. lol.

Sharonda: Sooo..you know I hate to ask this question, but what did you think of Andrea this episode?

Ana: ahhh. I think she’s still stupid. I liked when she went and stabbed the old man in the head, cause I mean, come on... these folks have no fecking idea what’s going on. She’s getting way too damned comfortable with the Governor and that’s all kinds of bad. You?

Sharonda: lols..yeah, I'll think I'll stay with lil ass kicker too..much better name..lols. You know, I was kinda like maybe shes starting to get a clue when she stabbed old dude in the head..but no,she still stuck on stupid, especially with the Governor..I mean this chick is just out of her mind. You are so right that these people don't have a clue as to what is going on..BUT she does, she's been out there.
Ana: The Governor.. man... tonight's episode was gonna make me go ballistic. When he told Maggie to take off her shirt? oh hell no... hell to the muh fkn no! Maggie definitely held her own, so I’ll give her that. But man.... no.. >.<

Sharonda: I know..what the fuck was that..sick ass pervert..ugh! Maggie was strong, I'll give her that..girl is tough. I wish she has access to something like Glenn did so she could have stabbed his nasty self.

Ana: Oh, I know right. How about how shocked ol’ boy was when Glenn killed that Zombie when he was tied to the chair? Fuckers was surprised. SMMFH. They live in Woodbury and have no damned clue how hard it is out there, yet they’re killing off people. For reals? SMMFH. Yeah, I’m definitely #TeamPrison Woodbury ain’t got nothin on Rick and his group. Especially now that Michonne is rollin’ with them?

Sharonda: For  reals..yes! They all had that what the fuck just happened look on their faces..hahaha. I was like you go Glenn. I'm definitely all for #TeamPrison because I'm fit to be tired of the Governor and Woodbury. That town needs to go up in smoke.

Ana: In the preview for next weeks epi, Carl says “We have to leave her...” or something along those lines. Do you think he’s referring to Judith? I was going to think that, but I don’t think so. It could be Beth or Carol. And seeing as Carol just made her reappearance, I don’t think they’d kill her off just yet. Well... maybe they will, the skeeery fuckers that they are >.<
Sharonda: ooooo...I didnt even see that. Wow, I think it might be Beth. She really hasnt had much of a part..so, yeah I think her. But you know, this show is always doing something to shock the hell out of you..so shit IDK on that one Ana.

Ana: Ain’t that the truth. *shrugs* They’re all... “It’s time to kill someone off...it’s a she, that’s the only hint y’all get.”xD

Sharonda: lmbo..right. I know they are going to have casulties on both sides though. This show also make you realize that only the tough ones will survive in this Walker world.

Ana: That’s true. But, I honestly think everyone in Rick’s group is strong. Well, with an exception of the baby and Beth... they’re just.... yeah lol. Carl isn’t as annoying as he used to be. Maybe he’s finally starting to grow up? IDK. He just hasn’t been annoying me lately.

Sharonda: This is true..I think Rick wants them to realize that..that yes we can find a safe place, but there are fuckig walkers out there and that can't be ignored. I also think Carl is growing up, but..I mean what kid can stay a kid in the middle of that shit..lols.

Ana: What did you think about that scene in that little house where Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Oscar were locked up when the Walkers went after them? And then there was a man in there. He was all “I’m going to call the police...” uhmmm.... dude.. where have you been? Living under a rock? For reals? lmbo. Oscar had that “oh shit.. she just killed him look” and then “wtf, y’all just gonna feed him to those monsters?” lol. I’m glad he’s showing more in the show. Makes me think maybe he’ll last through the rest of the season, Axel has barely been showing...
Sharonda: I loved that scene at the house with those four..they just took over and I loved how they worked together. I just know that Michonne will be a awesome and vital part of Rick's group.
LMAO..I said the same thing Ana. I was like "the cops?!..wtf is he talkng about" LOL!! Oscars face was classic, but dude seriously, ya'll aurronded by walkers..what else is there to do *shrugs*..Oscar may stay, but Axel...LOVED that scene..it was boss.

Ana: Last week we asked y’all what did you think was going to happen with the Dixon Showdown... here are the results...
Ana: Thanks for joining us this week on Talking Zombies!

Sharonda: yeah..what Ana jus said.lols..no seriously, thank you guys!!

Ana: This week’s poll question is...

Sharonda: We knew ya'll were gonna pick Daryl..coz he a boss lols. Okay, this weeks question is..Who will get left behind at the Prison? Beth? Or Carol?

Ana: If you would like to join us next week leave your email in the comment section below :)

      SUMMARY:
Soul Sisters is an urban fantasy novel about African-American twin sisters Ani and Dana who have a rather unique secret: one sister is human while the other is a vampire. While the sisters have lived peacefully with each other for many years one fateful night will change both their lives forever. When a drunken man tries to attack Dana (the human sister) Ani (the vampire sister) protects her sister with all of her ferocious power.

However, when the vampire's leader Donovan finds out about the public display he calls for the sisters to be assassinated for disobedience. Ani and Dana now are in for the fight of their lives to protect each other as well as the lives of their dedicated friends who have joined them on their mission for survival. If Dana and Ani can make it through this time of uncertainty, Ani can take her new place as vampire queen. Soul Sisters is expected to be a trilogy; The book also features a multicultural cast of characters that brings a new edge of chic to the vampire world.

Don’t miss book two Dark Expectations coming November 2012!

      MY REVIEW:
Janiera Eldridge introduces you to a whole new world of vampires. How they're made? Well, that's still a question left unanswered. There is a creator and the process is a secret. *shrugs* Dana and Ani are soul sisters. Dana is human and will live as long as her soul sister Ani, who is a vampire and was created by Donovan. Dana is immortal and will live as long as her soul sister is alive. But when Dana is drugged and attacked behind a club, Ani steps in to protector her sister and ends up killing a witness who sees her feeding from her sisters attacker and triggers Donovan to put an end to Ani and Dana.

Soul Sisters was a pretty interesting read, it definitely had it's flaws but if you could manage to look past them, then it was pretty good story that could definitely be better. I thought the whole idea for Soul Sisters is pretty danged cool, but with all the errors in the book, I found it very hard to read. There are different POVs but there is no distinct mention of a change until you actually realize that you're now reading from another characters POV. Ahhh. All my romance junkies out there. There is romance in this book, but it's very muted.  Not too much spark going on, but the characters did show a bit of spark between them. Though, I do wish there was more umph and less uhh. lol My poor unfulfilled romantic heart.

I did get this book a few months back on Amazon while it was free & then when I got an email to participate in the blog tour, I figured why not knock out a book in my TBR pile and join the tour. So, with that being said, I read the version I got from Amazon (and not the copy sent for the blog tour) before it was pulled and there was quite a bit of spelling tragedies. As well as mixing up of characters. There were times when Dana would say something or think something and then it would shift as if Ani had said/thought it. Again, the throwing off of the POV. Very confusing. I'm on the fence with the characters. I liked some of them, and some of them I was wondering WTF. Donovan, the Creator, is supposed to be this bad guy, but I never really got a "tread-slowly-he's-dangerous" vibe off of him. Which made me skeptical when Ani, Dani and the rest of the gang were training to whoop some creator ass.

Towards the ending, I was building up to this awesome showdown between the Creator and Ani, Dana and the rest of the group. (Thought, I just finished watching The Walking Dead then jumped back into reading and was still in an ass kicking mood) Well, a lot of build up and training and then BAAAAM. It's over. That was not a good ending for me. It was like a whole bunch of teasing and building up and then it all stops. I was disappointed to say the least.

I think this book could definitely be something great, it just wasn't a wow factor for me. The book fell and rose quite a bit, it wasn't boring, but it didn't keep my attention and wasn't very satisfying. I was on the fence with the rating for this book. I'm going with 2 Tropical Drinks because it could definitely use some work but it was decent. Easy to read and a nice twist to vampires.

      MY RATING:
      EXCERPT:
      Chapter 6
      1915 New York City

Bryson and Dana walked arm and arm down the blustery New York streetlaughing about the Christmas party they had just left. The snow was fresh and powdery. Neither of them felt the icy cold snowflakes floating down and speckling their coats because they were wrapped in the warmth of each other’s company.
“Did you see how Charles acted after taking that last shot of whiskey?” Dana asked.
Bryson could not contain his laughter thinking about their friend’s drunkenness. Everyone who had been at the party was probably laughing about it on their way home, too, particularly the part when Charles took off his pants and danced on top of the piano. Bryson laughed so hard people gave them odd passing glances.
“Yes.” Bryson gave a bright smile and grabbed her face to kiss her as they stood in the middle of the sidewalk. He wanted people to stop and stare at his beautiful wife. He wasn’t afraid to show her off every chance he got. The women cooed softly at the sweetness of the moment while the men ushered their women forward murmuring about how indecent their public display of affection was for the community. Truthfully they just didn’t want their wives to get any ideas.
It took Dana a few seconds to catch her breath. She couldn’t believe he would do something that indecent in public. It didn’t matter to her, however, because it felt way too good to be wrong. They stepped off the curb without a care in the world; Dana held onto Bryson’s arm tightly and could not stop staring into his eyes.
A few seconds later Dana felt a sharp pain and a crushing blow to her arm. It was as if a freight train slammed into her right side. She instantly started sobbing from the pain and confusion of the situation. She felt like a block of ice was on top of her chest as she lay sprawled out on the ground. Her legs were straight out together in front of her but her arms were stretched out wide, going in two different directions. Her head turned slowly to the left when she heard a woman screaming and she saw Bryson on the ground with his eyes wide open. She blinked a few times to clear up her vision and then she spotted a pool of blood circling his head like a flowing halo.
Dana tried to push against the woman lying on top of her but the person was impossible to move no matter how hard she tried.
“You don’t want to see this, you’re safe now,” the woman said softly in her ear; she sounded just like her.
“Soul sister?” Dana asked as she felt herself losing consciousness. She heard the chaos of the world going on around her but then she slipped into a black void. When she came to in a small nearby hospital she was disoriented and feeling miserable. There was a dull ache in her head and the vision in her right eye was blurry. She thought she saw a petite woman standing in the doorway, maybe she knew what had happened to Bryson.
“Where is my Bryson? Is he OK? What happened?”
The woman walked over to the bed and placed a hand on her head. Dana could see the woman was wearing a nurse’s outfit and she guessed she was in a hospital. The woman’s hand felt ice cold against her burning flesh.
“I’m sorry to tell you, ma’am, but your husband was hit by a moving vehicle. He suffered a bad head injury and he is no longer alive. I am so sorry.”
“No, wait. We were just coming back from a Christmas party. When did this happen?”
“You stepped off the side walk with your husband, ma’am. Apparently you could not see the car and the car could not see you. A woman who looked oddly like you pushed you out of the way and saved your life. Your husband didn’t make it. I’m very sorry. Would you like some water or a cup of juice?”
“No, no, thank you. Can I see him at least?”
“Not now honey. I really think you should get some rest. There’s a young woman who is here to see you. She says she’s your sister. Are you ready to see her?”
Dana coughed deeply and felt a liquid build up in her throat that she quickly swallowed back down; she was afraid to see who it was.
“OK,” was all she could seem to get out of her throat.
Her soul sister quietly stepped into the room as she faced the wall. She didn’t want the woman to see her nervousness or confusion. As much as she wanted to hug her sister she also wanted to punch her.
“Why didn’t you save my husband?” Dana asked choking back tears but keeping a straight face. As the tears filled up her eyes, her cheeks began to sting and swell
“The car came so fast. I didn’t have time to save you both. I’ve seen you with Bryson before and I know how much you loved him, I’m so very sorry.”
“What is your name?” Dana asked, sitting up against the pillow.
      “Ani,” She said softly.
“Ani, I don’t think I want to live much longer. I sold my soul to save my husband’s life and Donovan took him away from me. I really don’t see any reason to live anymore.”
Ani sat down in a chair and moved closer to the side of the bed. She placed her hand on Dana’s head and felt that she had a slight temperature. She would notify a nurse as soon as she left the room. Ani loved her sister and if her sister died then she died too.
“Donovan had nothing to do with what happened. Your husband’s time came up again and he was taken. Donovan didn’t order his death. I’m sure he is very concerned about this and knows how much this hurts you. He is good at feeling things like this.”
“Your kind feels? You don’t want me to kill myself because then you will die too. Frankly, I don’t care what happens to you right now. You’re such a small fragment of me; I don’t even think you’re real. This is just a bad nightmare. I’ll wake from it; I’ll be at home warm and safe with my parents. Bryson never actually existed and I sure as hell know you don’t either.”
Dana turned her head back to the wall and let the tears flow freely down her face. She placed her hand over her mouth to stifle the cries; her heart felt like it had broken into a million pieces. Now, she couldn’t live for anybody else but herself. Dana saw the look of despair in her sister’s face but it wasn’t enough for her to let her soul sister into her life.
“I’ll never turn my back on you when you need me, no matter how far away you are or how much danger you’re in. I know we’re supposed to be twins but I feel like you’re my baby sister.” She gave a light chuckle and then headed for the door. “I’ll be back to visit you tomorrow, and the next day and the next day. Even if you never want to see me it’s OK, but I’m not going to be without you any longer. I love you way too much.”
“I don’t care if you come back a million times. I will never talk to you again. Get the hell out of my room!” Dana threw a glass at Ani’s head. Ani moved her head slightly to the left as it flew into the wall and shattered into tiny pieces. She took a deep breath and nodded her head up and down slowly; she had to give her more time. Ani had been programmed to take on the evil ways of the world but Dana’s rose-colored glasses had just been stepped on.
