SUMMARY: |
THERON—Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.
From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life—silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.
She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.
As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Let me just say that I absolutely loved this book. These characters and this world were just...DIFFERENT. Yes, we have our heroine who doesn't know a danged thing, and yes, yes, YES we have an almighty alpha male whom is immortal ages really, really slowly. Like 200 years old and still smokin' hooot slow. Whew. So, I guess with me saying that, you're probably thinking... "Uh, Ana? That ain't different girl, what you talkin' bout?" *clears throat* BUT WAIT! Let me explain...
You have Casey, normal girl, crappy love life, works in a club and at her late grandmothers bookstore. In walks Theron, yes, his name is Theron (doesn't it just scream alpha sexiness?). Theron is an Argonaut, a guardian for the Argolean race. He is a descendant of Hercules (we're talking GREEK MYTHOLOGY folks). But he's not your ordinary descendant, nope, because he is a descendant of a powerful god, he is a guardian, the most powerful guardian of his race. The most powerful guardian who is following orders from an ailing king who is sending him on a mission (seriously, dude just busted a mission impossible) to find a woman that will cure his soon to be mate, the Kings daughter, who too, is slowly dying. And then things happen. Daemons come out to play, and not so fairly might I add.
Now THAT is different. It's also pretty complex, it took me a while to gather all the information and process it, but once I figured out who was who, who was good and who was bad, the story flowed with ease and allowing me to finish it fairly quickly. What I really liked about this book, would have to be the Argoleans.. This race is nothing to be messed with. Of course, if there's a good side, there's gotta be a bad side. And a whole lot of double crossing. But, it's apparent who's got devious motives, and who is pure of heart, so to speak.
I would definitely read this book, it's not an easy read, but it is damn good! For all your smut lovers, there is some smut in here, but that's just background noise to all the awesomeness that this book is. If you love yourself a great paranormal read, or a great twist on Greek mythology, then this book is for you.
