MY REVIEW:
I finally got around to watching The Avengers. Y'all should clap for me. Seriously. Go ahead. I'll wait. lmbo! Let's see. The Avengers says it's an action flick. And an action flick it is! It was kind of slow, and the real action doesn't really start til about 60% into the movie. Though, it does have little ass-kicking scenes before that. It's really a build up. A slow, yet entertaining, build up.

Here's what you've got:
Together these six will become the Avengers, taking on Loki(Tom Hiddleston), Thor's deranged, psycho, not-so-brother and his plan to take over Earth with the help of his big, creepy army of monsters(really, really creepy). But, before these bad ass superheroes can even think of doing that, they have to come together as a team and to do that, they have to let go of their "I-Am-Me-I-Rule-The-World" complex *cough* Iron Man *cough*. The first half of the movie drags, but you do get some high-tech shit thrown your way that keeps the movie somewhat afloat. A few differences and head-butts between the heroes, but that would be expected. Once you're past the halfway mark the movie picks up and gets a lot better.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's been on my "to-watch" list forever and I finally got a chance to do that. Of course, I mostly watched it for Thor's sake *swoon*. The action is there. Robert Downey Jr. brings the comedic relief in this action packed flick, as well as a few other characters. Though, they only have but a line or two that drips with comedy. The acting, IMO, was pretty great, especially with these actors and the screen time that they get. There are a few side stories going on. Hawkeye and Black Widow have their own thing between each other, which flows through the movie and comes full circle in the end, though it's just between those two. The Hulk, well, you don't get to see the hulk for quite a bit (and I mean in his big, green, horrifyingly huge self), but once he's there, he's bad ass. Though I do love Thor, I thought his parts were a bit draggy and not all that entertaining, but it did pick up a time or two. Iron Man, hell. He's Iron Man, he's the shit. And Captain America. Again, a little draggy for me, but still entertaining. I think these six together made one helluva movie and I'm hoping there's a sequel.

Would I recommend this? Heck, yeah! If you love yourself an action filled movie with an egotistical hero (or two) then this one is definitely for you. It is PG-13, so you pre-teens can watch this with you. The Avengers is a great family night movie :)
